I'm in a funk...

I'm in a funk, I have been for over a week. I feel blah and don't want to do anything. The little one has mostly been on top of me the past week, so it might not just be me, but I feel like I need a change.

I've been slacking on my walking lately, and now it's worse because I don't feel fit anymore, so I don't want to walk. It's a horrible circle! I need to just start walking again, I know I love doing it and once I start I'll want to walk all the time.

I'll be bugging my walking partner in the morning (assuming she's over the stomach flu, otherwise I'll go it alone!) Maybe that'll help me drag myself out of the pit of blah!

Do you ever get blah or feel uninspired? What helps you get out of it? I need ideas!

Brawl at a Birthday Party

We went to a birthday party today for a 3 year old friend. The kids wound up splitting up and playing with their friends (their older kids are the same age and gender as ours). We spent a few hours there enjoying the party and when we went to leave I found this on Bok Boy's neck.

It actually looks much worse than this, and it's starting to bruise. Come to find out the boys were wrestling (very quietly, since I was right outside the bedroom door talking to some friends). It looks like he got hickeys from something with a long, skinny mouth!

Apparently it was from a headlock, but I was shocked! Neither of these boys wrestle with their friends or are particularly violent (although Bok Boy is a black belt in karate and his friend plays rugby), but they generally play video games or Pokemon or bike together, not wrestle around on the floor!

Egads! And we have an appointment to take family photos on Monday... I'll have to keep an eye on it (and hope that it looks better in photos, like it does in this one), or I'll have to reschedule.

How do they always know?

How do kids always know when you're exhausted and are trying to catch up on your sleep? I went to bed early(ish) last night, hoping to get a decent night's sleep for once.

Of course (because I was desperate for sleep), the little one was up ALL night crying, for no apparent reason! I'd get her quiet for 1/2 hour or so, and then it would start all over again. Now, I know I'm spoiled, since all 3 of my kids have slept through the night since they were tiny babies, but a couple times a year we have a rough night and a miserable, miserable day!

Luckily for me (after getting up WAY too early to take the big kids to school), she was still sleeping, so I managed to climb back into bed for another 2 hours of sleep. So at least I got 2 hours of sleep. But I feel like the walking dead... We'll try again tonight!

Gutzy Gear Party and Giveaway

I was recently offered the opportunity to have a party to share an awesome product with my friends and my readers. This fun new product is called Gutzy Gear, and they're patches for your backpack.

The cool thing about them is that you can swap them with your friends, since you don't sew these on... they velcro to a cool strap cover, so you can swap them to your heart's content!

We had a product party at our house, with several friends. We played Gutzy Bingo (many many times, the kids loved it!), we had snacks, played Gutzy Dominoes and they created their own Gutzy!

Then we got down to the nitty gritty... choosing their Gutzy patches! Since we had fewer kids than we were supplied for, the kids got to choose several patches each, and there was much discussion and trading. Finally they all had backpacks covered in the patches they wanted (although who would have thought that popcorn and french fry patches would be the most popular??!)

Several kids left before we did photos, so we're missing some (and I blacked out faces for privacy reasons). But don't these look like fun?!

Gutzy has several different lines of patches, but they have Spongebob, Marvel, Spiderman and even Monster High! My kids are already begging for more.

Since I have a couple spare sets of Gutzies, I'm giving away 3 sets (shown in the first photo in this post). Each set contains 2 straps, the Gutzy that comes with them, and 2 additional Gutzies (one pack). One set is girly, so I will do the best to accommodate my winners to make sure that everyone gets one that they'd use.

I received a Gutzy Gear party pack to share and no other compensation. All opinions are my own and yours might be different.

I am SO obviously not up to par on my box lunches! This is amazingly creative and I'm jealous (both of their creativity and the time they have to pack a lunch!)

Creativity for Kids party and giveaway

I recently had an amazing opportunity to have a party to share Creativity for Kids craft kits (by Faber-Castell) with several of our friends, and we had a blast!

Here is just a few of the items we received:

We started out making the tote bags, since they were simple enough for the kids to do without supervision. They LOVED making them, and even my 2 year old made one!

We moved on to making Pop-Art necklaces, which the girls loved to make, especially since they could customize them, by coloring the art themselves, changing up the beads and adding jewels! The only downside is that the bales (rings) that held the pendant to the necklace kept opening up and they were falling a lot.
Here's just a few of the necklaces the girls made (they could've kept making these for hours!) We had a quick snack and moved on to headbands and bracelets, where things got more difficult. The packaging for both craft kits show lots of amazingly creative accessories, but they were too difficult for most of the girls there to handle, so we made simpler ones.
One thing that was a HUGE help to us was a bag of clothespins! We clipped them on the ribbon where we glued them to the headbands and bracelets, and left them there until the glue dried. No slippage and it was a quick and easy solution!
My very favorite is the rainbow colored bracelet! I wish it was big enough for me, but alas, my daughter will get to wear it...

All the kids also went home with goody bags! They had mosaic trinket boxes and Fashion coloring and ARTivity books, so the creativity could continue at home.

We had an amazing time! I would definitely buy some of these kits for other kids in our life, although I'd save the bracelets for slightly older girls.

Want to try some of these for yourself? I'm giving away 3 grab bags of craft kits from the party, with at least 2 kits in each prize pack.

I received these products from Creativity for Kids to try and to share with others. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own and your opinions may vary from mine.
