Three Silver Doves Book Review and Giveaway

NEW BOOK RELEASE....

When New York reporter Paige MacKenzie heads to Tres Palomas, New Mexico, the resort of Agua Encantada seems a perfect destination to combine work with pleasure. A quick article on the healing mineral springs and a few leisurely soaking sessions in the resort’s soothing waters promises well-deserved rest and relaxation.

Paige is immediately intrigued with a local artist's one-of-a-kind jewelry designs, as well as weekly gatherings to hear legends from an elderly storyteller. But when identical jewelry shows up on another guest and the storyteller goes missing, Paige's R&R is soon redefined as restlessness and risk. Curious and persistent by nature, Paige is convinced there's a connection. Enlisting the help of a flirtatious resort worker seems like a good idea until it begins to test her loyalty to her favorite cowboy, Jake Norris. Will an unexpected overnight trip to Tierra Roja Casino lead her to the answers she seeks, or are darker secrets lurking along the way?

My thoughts:

This was my first Paige Mackenzie mystery, and I was quite pleased to discover how quirky Paige is and what a fun story Ms. Garner writes!

Paige MacKenzie is a reporter who goes to the Agua Encantada resort in Tres Palomas, New Mexico to write a story about relaxing at the mineral springs, and Paige is excited to extend her work trip to include a relaxing vacation.

Unfortunately, very soon after she checks in Paige finds herself in the middle of a mystery and she's no longer able to focus on relaxation. As far as I can tell, this is pretty typical for Paige, since she pokes her head into everyone's business, and her boyfriend is constantly worried about her.

This is a fun, quick to read mystery that makes me want to explore the southwest (and maybe find a handsome handyman to flirt with). However, I'd much prefer to not be involved in jewelry theft and underground secrets!

Healed by Love Book Review and Giveaway

NEW BOOK RELEASE........
Book #1 The Bradens of Peaceful Harbor, Book #13 The Bradens series, Love in Bloom #25

Meet the Bradens of Peaceful Harbor and fall in love with Nate Braden & Jewel Fisher in Healed by Love.

Nate Braden has loved his best friend’s younger sister Jewel for as long as he can remember, but between their age difference and his respect for Rick, he’s always kept his feelings at bay. Now he’s back in Peaceful Harbor, and Jewel is no longer sixteen years old—but there’s an even bigger obstacle standing in his way. Nate and Rick joined the military together eight years earlier. Nate came home a hero, but Rick didn’t make it out alive.

THE BRADENS AT PEACEFUL HARBOR are one of the newest additions to the Braden series and the LOVE IN BLOOM family.

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My thoughts:

I am a huge fan of the Bradens, and I was very excited to meet a whole new family of them.

Jewel has been taking care of her family for years, since she lost her father and then her older brother. She has the weight of the world on her shoulders and misses her brother Rick terribly.

Nate Braden was Rick's best friend since childhood, and he has tremendous survivor's guilt after joining the military with Rick and coming home without him. He's had a thing for Jewel for years but can't bear to be near her because of his guilt. When Nate comes back into town he tries to fulfill his promise to Rick to help his family, and Jewel and Nate wind up spending a lot of time together.

Can Jewel let down her hair enough to take a chance with Rick? Can Rick get past his feelings of guilt and allow himself to love?

This is a very emotional book, one that had me in tears multiple times, but it also had me pulling for Nate and Jewel to find happiness. I did feel like Nate and Jewel were kind of childish in their attempts to understand their own feelings, so while I liked this book it was not my favorite of all Melissa Foster's books. Even so, I am very excited to meet more of Nate's family and can't wait for the next installment of the Bradens of Peaceful Harbor.
