Claimed by Love Book Review and Giveaway

NEW RELEASE........
Claimed by Love, Book #2 The Ryders

Family law attorney Gabriella Liakos has one true love, Elpitha Island, where she grew up and hopes someday to return. But Elpitha is in financial ruins, and Gabriella will do anything to keep it from falling into the wrong hands.

Duke Ryder is a savvy real estate investor set on making Elpitha into an exclusive resort. Unlike other investors, he's not scared of purchasing a property where one family has roots so deep they practically reach the ocean floor...until he meets his beautiful, stubborn, and enticing tour host―the daughter of the owner of most of the island.

Gabriella sets out to dissuade Duke from purchasing Elpitha, but Duke has other ideas. He wants Gabriella and the island. Duke's powerful seduction draws Gabriella in, but can a savvy investor who's used to glamour and glitz, and a woman interested in preserving the culture she adores find a happily ever after together?

*** THE RYDERS are the newest addition to the LOVE IN BLOOM series by New York Times & USA Today bestselling and award-winning author Melissa Foster. This 5-book hot contemporary romance series features alpha male heroes and sexy, empowered women. They’re flawed, funny, passionate, and relatable to readers who enjoy new adult romance, contemporary romance, and women’s fiction. While each book may be read as a standalone, you might enjoy reading the entire Love in Bloom series (The Snow Sisters, The Bradens, The Remingtons, & Seaside Summers)

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My thoughts:

Gabriella's family has owned most of Elpitha Island for generations, and their enormous extended family is a unique combination of Southern and Greek. However, their island is slowly falling apart. With a lack of tourism income, houses are falling apart and families are sending their youth off the island to college and to have a better life.

Gabriella is a family law lawyer, and her grandfather has asked her to come back to Elpitha to show around an investor who is coming to purchase part of the island to develop it. Since Gabriella loves the island and doesn't want to see it turned into a huge casino complex, she's ready to fight the development at all costs.

When Duke Ryder shows up, he is definitely not what she was expecting. However, no matter how interested they are in each other, the potential development will always be between them. Can they find love and agree about the future of the island? Or will they let a few square miles of land come between the love of a lifetime?

I loved this story, the romance (and the steamy scenes), but I missed seeing many of my favorite characters from the other Love in Bloom books. Since this story was set on an island and so devoted to Gabriella and Duke we didn't hear many updates about previous characters in Mrs. Foster's books. This book is part of a series but can definitely be read as a stand alone book.

Eighty and Out Book Review and Giveaway

Traumatized by visits to the nursing home to see their elderly aunt, Louise and her sister Jeannie made a youthful pact to not live past age eighty. Was it a silly childhood idea, or were they wise beyond their years? Most importantly, will they go through with it when the time comes?

Eighty and Out Editorial Review: “An emotionally-charged women’s fiction novel about the bond between sisters, friendship, and fate, Eighty and Out will have you deliberating your destiny.” ~ Bestselling author Deborah Brown

My thoughts:

To be quite honest, the description of this book does not do it justice. I initially started reading this story because I like Kim Cano's stories, although the idea of the "Eighty and Out" pact initially turned me off. Why would I want to read a story about some kids who don't want to get old?

However, this is SO much more than a pact about getting old! This is the story of a family, from childhood through their elder years. You see integration through the eyes of a child, women struggling to get into college in an era when it rarely happened, riots through the eyes of a woman trapped in the wrong side of town, and births, life, and death.

You will fall in love with Louise, Jeannie, their family and their friends. You will cheer for them, cry for them and laugh with them.

The only negative for me is that the ending was too abrupt. Everything else was described in such detail, but we came to the conclusion of the book about 50 pages before I was ready! I would've loved to hear the story of the end of the book in detail, instead of in an epilogue.

"Kim Cano is one of the great writers of our time who will make you feel and think, laugh and cry and in the end nod your head in agreement." - Miki's Hope

"A women’s fiction novel that follows the life of a girl into a woman.  Honestly, this is one to keep on the shelves and read again." - Life as Leels

"As with all of Kim Cano's books that I have read, you become mesmerized by the story, a beautiful, gentle story of coming of age, love, loss, despair and happiness." - Beck Valley Books

Starfish Island Book Review and Giveaway

NEW RELEASE....

A MYSTERIOUS INHERITANCE. A HANDSOME STRANGER.

After a bad break-up, Nicole Alexander is ready for a change. When she inherits a house on Starfish Island from a grandmother she never knew, it seems like the perfect opportunity for starting over. But soon after moving in, Nicole receives a cryptic message warning her to leave immediately.

Determined to get to the bottom of the hauntings, Nicole starts an investigation. When things get hot and heavy with one of the island’s most charismatic residents, Michael Edwards, Nicole begins to suspect his amorous attention might be a cover for dark motives.

Will Nicole discover the reason for the island’s hostility before it’s too late? Can she fall for a man she doesn’t exactly trust?

STARFISH ISLAND is best-selling author Deborah Brown’s first romantic suspense novel. If you love the charm and fast pace of her popular Paradise series, then you’ll love this engrossing romantic mystery.

My thoughts:

Nicole is left an estate on Starfish Island by an aunt that she's never met. Yet she's hearing voices while she sleeps, encounters locked doors and staff who fight her on every turn. Can Nicole discover who is trying to force her out of her home before her world comes tumbling down?

After reading the Paradise series I was so excited to see that Deborah Brown had written a romance novel. When I found out it was a romantic suspense I was even more excited. While I really enjoyed the story, I felt like I was reading the middle book in a series, like I was missing back story on a lot of the characters.

That being said, I liked the story and I loved the island. I'm really hoping that Brown is writing another book about Starfish Island, because I'd love to hear more about the other characters on the island!

About the Author
I've been writing, in one way or another for as long as I can remember; writing poetry, short stories, a romance novel secretly stashed under the bed and sappy love letters. Fiction should be fun. I wanted to create the perfect beach book, to make the reader laugh, cry and cheer... and then run out and tell their friends about it.

My love of reading began when I was seven, the day I opened the cover of my first Mrs. Piggle Wiggle book. Mrs. P gave lessons to other children in how to behave and to me I learned to love the written word. I live with my family and demon children aka rescue cats in South Florida.

AT Large Book Review and Giveaway

New Release...
Alex Troutt Thriller Series #2
AT Large
The pursuit of the truth. The hunt for a life.

For the first time in months, FBI Special Agent Alex Troutt feels almost normal, hanging out at a local bar with friends after work. Not long into the evening she stumbles over one of the most disturbing images she has ever seen.

And that’s only the beginning.

A body is found in Lowell, the human damage, once again, inconceivable. Hours later, another strike. Pushing heartache aside, Alex immerses herself in the investigation. But with every new clue comes a new twist.

With the killing spree drawing the attention of every intelligence and law enforcement agency in a five-state radius, Alex is forced to partner with an egomaniac from the CIA. Yet, even with limitless resources, every step forward proves to be a step too late, the kill list seemingly endless.

Once the killer makes it personal, Alex is left with no other option—she must confront the person who destroyed her life to try to cease the vicious murders. And when she finally learns the killer’s end game, every second counts if she has any hope of stopping the brutal killings.

The hunt will end. Will Alex?

Available to buy from.....

My thoughts:

John Mefford has done it again! His thrillers will grab you by the throat and not let you go until the very last page. AT Large is his second Alex Troutt book, and she is my new favorite FBI agent.

Alex is still trying to put her life back together after an accident that took her memory and a serial killer who took her husband. She's thrust into another case that's far too similar to the case she just closed. Can she put her life back together for her family's sake and find a serial killer before more lives are destroyed?

This book has some graphic injury descriptions, and it makes you question how Alex has such bad luck, but is an amazing story. It's gripping and gritty and unearths the nastiest form of humans, but I loved it!

It's the second in the series, but it is a stand alone story (although it's definitely a better read after reading AT Bay).

AT Bay (Alex Troutt Thriller series #1)
Alexandra Giordano never knew she had it so good. Until it was all gone in an instant.

As she begins her daunting quest to uncover the black spots on her memory, what she finds isn’t sweet or charming or even pleasant. And that’s when she begins to question everything, including herself.

Her work as a Special Agent for the FBI is only a distraction, serving as a mental metronome…anything to crank the gears of her feeble mind.

And then it happens—a bizarre, ritualistic murder. She loses herself in her work, fully immersed in the investigation. Unable to recall even her own kids, she’s somehow able to formulate coherent theories on what type of person could pull off such a sickening act.

As her mind slowly plugs a few memory gaps, her emotions are scrambled by the reality of her worlds colliding. And the resulting explosion tears her in two.

Can she pick up all the incendiary fragments to solve the twisted crime while she clings to some semblance of sanity?

One woman can only keep so much…AT Bay.

Seaside Embrace Review and Giveaway

SEASIDE SUMMERS BOOK #6
Voted Beck Valley Books Reviewers Favorite Mini Series from the Love in Bloom Series in 2014
Featuring a group of fun, sexy, and emotional friends who gather each summer at their Cape Cod cottages. They're funny, flawed, and will have you begging to enter their circle of friends. You met them in READ, WRITE, LOVE, (The Remingtons, Book 5), follow these friends on their search for forever love in the Seaside Summers series.

SEASIDE EMBRACE
After working hard all day, creating his beautiful metal sculptures, sinfully sexy Hunter Lacroux likes to unwind with a hot, sexy babe--or two. But after spending a handful of naughty nights with seductive and beautiful Jana Garner, the woman who challenges everything he does and says, Hunter wants more.

As a dancer, boxer, actress, and waitress, Jana is tough, organized, and as dedicated as she is committed. She has to be to maintain her crazy schedule. But when it comes to men, Jana's had a string of bad relationships, and there's only thing she'll commit to--not committing.

White-hot passion ignites every time Jana and Hunter are together, but the closer Hunter gets, the faster Jana runs. When Hunter lays on the charm, Jana throws out a challenge she's sure he can't meet, and Hunter steps up to the plate, forcing her to face her hurtful past or let go of him forever.

SEASIDE EMBRACE is part of the SEASIDE SUMMERS series, and the newest addition to the "Love in Bloom" family. Each book may be read as a stand-alone novel, or as part of the series.

**CONTENT WARNING: Due to mature content, recommended for readers aged 18+**

My thoughts:

Melissa Foster has given me a new hunk to love! She also returned us to the Seaside gang, who have a special (and crazy) place in my heart.

Hunter and Jana both have a disregard for any sort of relationship, and spend their lives enjoying an evening with a warm body, without any lasting connections. However, Hunter and Jana have hooked up in the past... a few times.

Yet neither of them can keep each other out of their thoughts. Can they make more happen than some hookups? Do they want to?

Meanwhile, Jana is training for a boxing match, Hunter is competing in a sculpture contest and trying to help fix his friend's marriage.

I love that we get to meet some of the babies of Seaside, and get to see some of our Seaside favorites' lives continue while we watch Hunter and Jana's story unfold.

Deep Fried and Pickled Book Review and Giveaway

Paisley Ray books are not your typical fiction. A young woman's plan for an art history degree turns into an outrageous series of misadventures in this laugh-out-loud romp about a girl who enrolls in a southern college during the height of the crazy era that was the 1980’s. This collection crosses genres of chick lit, mystery, romance, humor, and action with the possibility of a corpse or two. To date there are 8 novels in this humorous romantic misadventure mystery series with book #9 due to release spring of 2016.

It’s ’86, the era of Pop Rocks, Jelly shoes, and big hair rock bands. Rachael O'Brien's freshman plan seems simple: Attend a southern college, earn a degree, party, and meet cute guys—hopefully acing the latter two.

But being threatened by a jealous She-Devil, avoiding the advances of a thirty-something redneck, and discovering an art fraud scheme thwart her “to do” list. On top of her troubles at school, Rachael finds herself forging a new relationship with her emotionally shaken father after Mom abandons the family to pursue a psychic calling.

Bad decision-making, law-bending behavior, and surprise romances make freshman year memorable in Paisley Ray’s DEEP FRIED AND PICKLED.

"I often get asked by readers what order THE RACHAEL O'BRIEN CHRONICLES books should be read in. Each book can be read without any prior knowledge of any of the others. That said, some readers do want to follow a chronological list of events in Rachael's southern fried, 80's college life antics so here it is".....

My thoughts:

This book was such a flashback for me! It was so much fun to revisit the 80s (even if I wasn't in college partying at the time), and I adored the references to the things I grew up with, including stretching the phone cord across the hall to make a call in private.

Rachael leaves strict parents and goes away to college, where she finds almost everything she's looking for in college. She finds a fun roommate, interesting dorm neighbors, lots of alcohol and classes that she enjoys. The one thing she can't find is a guy! As Rachael scours the area for a man, she stumbles upon several mysteries that keep popping into her life.

This is a fun, lighthearted mystery with a heavy dose of college misbehavior and flashbacks to a long-forgotten time.

"Being a Southern girl and child of the 80s myself, I enjoyed the characters, the setting and the period references. Good plot without being too serious or watered down."

"This fun and quirky mystery was very nostalgic for me as I got to relive the eighties through Rachael."

"An entertaining read. Fresh new characters and some zany plot twists kept me reading late into the night."
