MIA, for a good reason!

Well, I've been MIA for a week or so, for good reason...

Our little one finally decided to join us last Thursday, only 10 days late (and after 5 days of contractions and an induction!) We're both doing fine and we broke out of the hospital on Friday afternoon, then spent the weekend adapting to our new larger family and getting ready for the first day of school, which was yesterday.

Once I can I'll update you guys with more information (and post a ton of winners)... free time for blogging is currently very hard to come by!

41 Weeks 1 Day Update

Well, from the title it's obvious that I'm still cooking a baby!

I've been having contractions since Friday morning (ugh!) By Friday afternoon they were 5 min apart but mild. Went to the hospital and got sent home. By Friday night they were 3 min apart but still mild and they continued all night.

Saturday morning they stopped and then started again by afternoon, getting stronger. Since then they've continued, stopping for several hours, then starting back up erratically, then finally finding a steady rhythm at about 6 or 7 min apart, strong enough to make me stop what I'm doing but never progressing beyond that.

The doctor seems to think that all these contractions are a good thing (obviously he's never been in labor for 5 days before!) and he says it bodes well for an induction tomorrow morning.

I've never before had contractions for more than 12 or so hours, and I have to say "this sucks!" Hopefully we'll get to meet our very very stubborn baby tomorrow!

Waiting for Baby Event... Kicky Pants Review

I love companies created by moms and dads, and Kicky Pants is one of my new favorites! Kicky Pants was created by Erin Cloke when she was on bedrest during her second pregnancy. Since then her husband has joined her in the company.

Kicky Pants carries a wide variety of cotton and bamboo clothing, all of which are designed by Erin! They offer clothing for baby, kids, and even mom!

Kicky Pants even makes toys for your little one.

Kicky Pants sent me this adorable outfit to review:

It's made out of bamboo and is one of the softest baby outfits I currently own!

I especially love the ruffled butt!

Want to find Kicky Pants for yourself? You can find them on their website, Facebook, and even Twitter!

Waiting for Baby Event... WrapADoodle Review

I've spent a lot of time this pregnancy looking at swaddling items, mostly because I can never keep my kids swaddled. They always kick or punch the blankets off of them (I think I'm not a very good swaddle-maker!)

So when I found WrapADoodle, I was ecstatic!

WrapADoodle is the easiest way to swaddle, and they're adorable!

WrapADoodle comes all tied up in a cute package.

Simply open it up and put baby in the giant pocket.

Tie the ends to swaddle baby's arms.

Finish off the knot. Baby is now swaddled but can still kick her legs as needed.

WrapADoodle will custom make them for you using a variety of different fabrics and they also make make matching BurpADoodle Burp Cloths! Or you can choose from WrapADoodle's pre-made sets on etsy!

Want to find WrapADoodle for yourself? Find them on etsy, on their blog or on Facebook!

Waiting for Baby Event... Happy Blankie Review

I recently discovered Happy Blankie, an amazing company who makes adorable, super soft blankies. They're satiny on the back and a plush "minky" fabric on the front.

We received Stomp the frog to review, and the fighting has already started in our house! This blankie is supposed to be for baby, but both Bok Boy and Little Miss have been caught using it recently because it's so snuggly!

We received the small size, which is 18x18". Happy Blankie also offers medium at 36x36" and large at 48x56. We may need to buy a large one so all the kids can fit under it together!

Happy Blankie also offers personalization, in block or script font and in 13 different colors.

My very favorite thing about Happy Blankie is the fact that they have a One to Love, One to Give program! When you buy one blanket, you're actually buying two: one for you and one for a child in a hospital or orphanage! Not only that, the founder of Happy Blankie (who came up with the One to Love, One to Give program) is a child! I love the fact that a child was the one who wanted to share with others!

Want one of your own? Buy one for yourself or someone you love (and one to give!) at http://www.happyblankie.com/

Waiting for Baby Event... ITZBEEN Review and Giveaway

As most parents can tell you, newborn babies make you sleep deprived. You stumble around, sometimes finding time to shower and sometimes forgetting where your shower is! Yet you're supposed to keep track to make sure that baby is being fed and changed often enough and to make sure they're getting enough sleep. Baby's on meds? I'd have to write the time I gave her medicine on my hand otherwise I'd lose the list.
Greg Sheldon, a stay-at-home dad, has come to the rescue of all of us! He created the ITZBEEN timer, a handy, easy to use gadget that keeps track of how long it's been since the last diaper change, feeding, asleep/awake, plus a fourth timer you can use for whatever you want. Plus these timers also have an optional alarm that will beep and light up as a reminder.

The ITZBEEN (pronounced "it's been") also has a small nightlight to help you maneuver without crashing into things and a backlit display to help read it at night. It has a clip on the back to attach it to the diaper bag (or your pants) and a nursing reminder switch so you know which side baby nursed from last. The big thing to note about ITZBEEN is that it is not made to put your baby on a schedule! It's help you remember and to help you figure out why baby's upset (maybe she needs a nap!)

Not only will the ITZBEEN be perfect for those first few weeks (or months) of craziness, but it helps a bunch when you have more than one caregiver! When Bok Boy was a baby, hubby was a student and I worked. Many times I'd run in the door literally as he was running out and I never knew when baby had last been fed or napped. I had to play it by ear every evening! This timer would've saved me a ton of headache, particularly since it's so easy to use. Nothing to write down, just a quick button push and you're done!

ITZBEEN received a 2007 JPMA Innovation Award and a 2007 iParenting Media Award for Best Baby Care Product. It's also easily available at many stores, including Babies R Us, Target, Amazon, and many more!

Want to try one for yourself? ITZBEEN is offering one of my readers an ITZBEEN timer all their own!

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* An ITZBEEN timer (worth $24.99!)
