As the third daughter of a third daughter, dragon-shifter Christine Drachen must mate with a human. 

Not all human males are genetically compatible with dragon shifters, and suitable matches are rare in old Charleston. Christine, though, has identified James to be an appropriate match. Even humans who acknowledge the possibility of dragons cannot believe that one can be both a dragon and a human, shifting between the two. As a result, Christine must attract James without fully revealing her true, shifting nature until he has committed to mate.

James gradually discovers what Christine is. She shows him the gold dragon she always wears around her neck. He notices the prints, statues, and tapestries of dragons that decorate her family’s home. Strange noises emanate from behind the Drachens’ house during a party, and James believes he actually sees a dragon, one wearing a necklace like Christine’s. Christine’s last name, Drachen, means “dragon,” and, while she jokes her entire family is composed of the creatures, James begins to suspect there is more to what she says than a simple attempt at humor.

Finally, though, he sees her shift.

To protect their species from persecution, dragon-shifters silence any human who sees one of them shift, and the most practical method is generally death. The rule is absolute. But Christine has fallen in love with James. How can she protect her family without killing the boy she loves?

My thoughts:

Christine is a lovely young woman who happens to be from a long line of dragon shifters. She rebels during the Summer of Love and experiences life in San Francisco. She then returns home to complete college and search for her mate, which is her duty as the third daughter of the third daughter.

Reading about the history of the Drachens, along with their rituals and traditions was so much fun, and seeing how the difference in species made life so different for Christine and her family made for a great read.

This was such a different story than what I would normally read, but I loved it!


Dragon Mist is a story of boy-meets-girl, with a few non-human characters, high stakes, a bit of magic, a little humor, and an abundance of romance. One-click it today!

About the author
David Burnett lives near Charleston, South Carolina, where he walks on the beach almost every day and photographs the ocean, the sea birds, and the marshes that he loves. Three of his four books are set in Charleston, and he has always enjoyed the Carolina beaches.

David enjoys photography and has photographed subjects as varied as prehistoric ruins on the islands of Scotland, star trails, sea gulls, and a Native American powwow. He and his wife have traveled widely in the United States and the United Kingdom. During trips to Scotland, they visited Crathes Castle, the ancestral home of the Burnett family near Aberdeen, and Kismul Castle on the Isle of Barra, the home of his McNeil ancestors.

He reports that he went to school for much longer than he wants to admit, and he has graduate degrees in psychology and education. He and his wife have two children and a blue-eyed cat named Bonnie.

My thoughts:

Every year at Christmas Mrs. Garner welcomes us back to the Timberton Hotel, to see what Mist has cooked up for this holiday season (literally and figuratively). Guests find amazing food, love and healing, and friendships that will span the years. And they all find the magic of Christmas, even the most jaded of them.

This is another amazing addition to the Moonglow Christmas series! The friends and neighbors that come to see Mist at Christmas make for an interesting, fun story. You can read this story as a standalone book, but I'd recommend reading the previous novels also. You won't be disappointed, and you'll definitely be in the Christmas spirit!

I really want to find the Timberton Hotel and stay for a visit! Mist has an amazing knack for making every guest feel special, and for making the holidays into a magical event that warms everyone's heart.

My thoughts:

This is a fun, varied collection of holiday stories, and a great way to kick off the holiday season! This book is a collection of short stories, of different genres from different authors, but with a prevailing holiday theme.

Each of the stories is only a few pages long, but they pack a lot of heart (and holiday spirit) in each of the stories. My one complaint is that I really wanted many of them to continue! I would love for several of them to be rewritten into full-length books!

As suspicions mount, people disappear and bodies fall. Who is to blame? And can Chrissy really help Autumn solve the mystery?

My thoughts:

I've been waiting for Dixie's story for quite some time, and Mrs. Foster does not disappoint! Dixie has been the overprotected Whiskey sister her whole life, but she's a strong, capable woman who is keeping multiple businesses running. Yet her overprotective brothers have kept men far away from her for years.

Dixie has had a crush on Jace since she was a teen, and Jace secretly feels the same way. When the most improbable combination of things occur, Jace and Dixie are thrown together in a way that will change their lives forever.

Jace is constantly on the move, traveling for work and without a proper home base. Dixie is tied to her family and their businesses, so they'll never be able to maintain a relationship. Can they work things out, or do they have separate paths for their lives?
