When the Time is Right took me on a roller coaster of emotions! I laughed, I cried, was horrified and surprised. All within a fairly short novel. Kim Cano is a heartfelt writer, who wrings the emotion out of you.

Michelle Catalano is a trained veterinarian who now does housecalls to allow pets to pass at home, in their family's arms. The job is an emotional one, but she loves knowing the the animals and their families are together in a peaceful place. Since her beloved cat passed, she reached out to a pet psychic and got a very strange response.

 

Michelle's life is mostly work and visiting with family, along with excitement about becoming an aunt. When tragedy strikes her family, the whole family must band together and help each other and the investigation. As Michelle gets closer to the lead detective on the case, romance is afoot.

Will they bring the murderer to justice? Will Michelle and Bruce find love? And will the pet psychic help Michelle heal?

These two are so messed up and yet so perfect for each other! Jock has a tragedy in his past and has recently lost his closest friend. Daphne is struggling to raise her toddler alone after the heartbreak that left them as a duo. Daphne's daughter is in love with Jock, but he continuously turns away from her, which makes a relationship impossible.

Yet they both are looking for more than friendship from each other, but a tiny little girl can unknowingly cause a gulf that they can't cross. Can they get through their differences and have a life together? Or will they continue to walk away from each other?

This is the first of the Steele series, but definitely won't be the last that I read! Mrs. Foster is fantastic as always, and I can't recommend her books enough.

Oh my goodness, this book is absolutely amazing! Zev is my new favorite book boyfriend, even with his past choices.

Zev and Carly were best friends growing up, then inseparable as teenagers and had planned their lives together, including finding a sunken ship that they'd researched. But when tragedy strikes their lives, Zev takes off because he can't bear to see Carly's pain.

After many years have passed, they both have moved on with their lives, until Zev attends a wedding and looks up to see Carly, and it's like lightning has struck. In the meantime, he's stuck in town for the next week, which might give them just enough time to get to know each other again.

Bricks and Brutes Review

We've had a great time hanging out as a family over the last week before school starts again, and part of that fun has been playing a new game that's currently available on Kickstarter!

Bricks and Brutes is a game designed for 6-13 year olds, with very easy to learn rules and a fun building component. The Queen has decided to have walls built around her castle, and has given each person directions for their wall.

Your job is to build your wall to her specs - but watch out! The other players may try to steal your pieces, so you'd better have a brute to defend yourself. The dragon may swoop in and eat your brute (or your mason if he's undefended), and finally, the Queen may completely change her mind about what she wants and change your wall design! This kingdom is a dangerous place to try to build a wall.

This game was great for my child who loves to play a certain block-style building video game, and had enough strategy for the adults and older kids. Some of the components are even used in fun and different ways!

I highly recommend this game for those with kids, grandkids, or teens who babysit. It's a fun game that's quick to explain, and is something different from anything else you've played!

My thoughts:

Justin and Chloe are my new favorite couple! They both have had very rocky pasts, and Chloe has sworn off bad boys. But Justin won't let that get in his way, as he's been looking at Chloe for over a year. Chloe is steering very clear of Justin because of his biker ways, and his past with her friend.

When Chloe sees Justin post-fight, she sees him in a new light and lets him into her life and her heart. Justin has a rugged exterior that hides a heart a mile wide, and his surprises and care for Chloe are swoon-worthy!

I absolutely adore these two, and the way that they complete each other gives everyone hope for finding the right person for them.
