My thoughts:
 
You're going to need a fan and a big glass of ice water for this book, because it's HOT! Trixie and Nick have been great friends for years, but lately they've both had secret feelings for each other. When Trixie wants to go out on her own (and out from under her family's wings) it makes perfect sense to stay with her good friend, who will help her start her business.

But they're both struggling being around each other, thinking like their feelings are a one way street. All it takes is one challenge to make the sparks into a bonfire, and they're quickly on their way to a relationship. 

But can Trixie get through Nick's carefully erected walls? And will their ties to their hometowns be what breaks them apart forever?

I love that this was a crossover from two series, because we got to see so many old friends and catch up on their lives! Trixie and Nick have become one of my all-time favorite couples.

My thoughts:

This is another fabulous holiday story by Deborah Garner! The Timberton Hotel puts on a magical Christmas every year, with a wonderful combination of new and returning guests. This year the town has joined in the festivities, with a huge festival that brings holidaygoers from near and far.
 
Mist has put together a magical meal, experience, and gifts for all of her guests. This year her guests have their own surprises in store for her, including the youngest guest, who brings the wonder of Christmas through the eyes of a child.
 
This book is a wonderful addition to the series (although it can totally be read as a standalone!) The only negative is that I wish it was longer, so the holiday joy would continue!

My thoughts:

This is such a sweet, family centered novella! John works a bunch of part time jobs, in the mill, the church, and helping as needed. Yet his true passion is in the stars. He loves astronomy and loves sharing his knowledge with others. He's also the epitome of family man, who sends nearly all of his earnings back to his parents to help support them.

Phoebe is the rock in her family, doing the majority of the household chores for the huge number of people packed in her house. Yet she too has a very scientific mind, keeping careful track of her recipe adjustments and how things turned out in her kitchen book.

John and Phoebe meet in an unusual manner, and as their relationship develops the challenges continue. John can't support his parents and his own family, and Phoebe's family is dependent on her to keep the house running. As more of Phoebe's siblings marry and move away her father becomes more and more vocal that she will never leave the house.

Do these two have a chance to be together? Or are there just too many challenges to make it work?

This was a wonderful story and gave such an interesting glimpse into the time period!

As Madison works to find justice for the victim, Madison’s own life is put at risk. What she comes to discover is some people will go to extreme lengths to protect their secrets—even as far as murder. But will learning that lesson come too late for her?

 

My thoughts: 

Detective Madison Knight seems to have it all, a career that she loves, a wonderful boyfriend and dog, and a partner who knows all her quirks. But looks can be deceiving, as her health is in question, her relationship is up in the air, and she has quite a few secrets of her own.

But when she gets a call from her realtor about a dead body on a property, she discovers a Jane Doe with a message writted in blood. Can Madison and Terry solve the case before the problems in her private life boil over?

This is a fast paced, intense book that gives us a better understanding of Madison than we have had in past books. A great addition to the series, but this book can be read as a standalone (although you'll want to go back and read them anyways!)

My thoughts:
 
I know that I say this a lot, but Quincy and Roni are my new favorite! These two people come from very dark pasts. Roni grew up on the wrong side of town and spent her life working towards her dream of dancing, only to have it taken away in the blink of an eye. Quincy had an even rougher childhood and is a recovering drug addict who is working every day to make a better life.
 
Quincy and Roni have been texting and flirting for months, but neither are quite ready to make the first move, as they both have sides of themselves that they're not ready to share. Quincy is sweet and loving and amazing with the Whiskeys, his new family group. Roni is a wonderful teacher with a couple of close friends, who quickly joins the Whiskey extended family also.
