Sealing the Deal Review

1

Sealing the Deal

Bella North

For a New York billionaire and a country girl bar owner with a smart mouth, one deal could change everything.

Grayson Ashborne is public enemy number one in laidback Denver, where the locals really don’t like the idea of a ruthless New York billionaire taking over their football team, the Stormhawks… especially local fan bar owner Flic Moore. She’s as sassy and straight-talking as she is beautiful. But Grayson is used to getting whatever he wants…

Flic might just be the leader of Grayson’s hate club. The most beloved Stormhawks fan in the city, she has nothing but an eye roll to offer the infuriatingly handsome out-of-town billionaire. Until he makes her an offer she can’t refuse: help him win over the fans, and he’ll buy her bar’s premises and sign it over to her. No more rent hikes, no more landlords.

It’s strictly business. Until it’s not… soon they’re sharing intimate private jets to away games, heated debates in stadium boxes, and steamy elevator rides to penthouse apartments. Flic’s willpower when it comes to Grayson begins to crumble as fast as the walls around her heart.

But can Flic help Grayson win over the fans before it’s too late for her beloved bar? And when family duty calls, will Grayson rush right back to New York to protect the infamous Ashborne name…?

A spicy but sweet enemies-to-lovers billionaire romance, perfect for fans of Carrie Elks, Lauren Asher and Stephanie Archer.

My thoughts:

Grayson is a big city developer whose family has made a name for themselves destroying properties, who just bought Denver's football team and has made himself enemy number one for the entire city.  Flic is the owner of a sports bar and one of the people who hates Grayson the most.

Until Grayson offers Flic a deal that she can't refuse, and the two are thrown together over and over again, and something develops between them.  But do they even have a chance at making a relationship work? They're from two different planets and have different plans for their lives.

This is my first Bella North story, and I can't wait to go back and read the previous books! This story is hot and fun, and was too interesting to put down.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy.

The Glass House Review

The Glass House

Victoria Jenkins

After my sister was killed, my parents vowed never to return to this place. But I made a promise to uncover the truth. And now that I’m back, her killer has nowhere to hide.

Standing in the impressive hallway of this luxury holiday home, it’s hard to imagine our little house once stood here. Someone wanted to bury the ghosts of the past when they built the glass house and tourists come for miles to stay here. I’ve planned every detail of this trip and made certain the locals won’t recognise me. It’s the only way I might get them to talk.

But soon it’s clear no-one wants me here. At first it’s little things like whispers and threatening looks. Then one night, when I return to the house, I notice my possessions are out of place and I’m sure I can see a figure in the darkness outside.

Then I hear the sound of breaking glass downstairs and my heart shatters. Someone has been watching my every move. They must know who I really am. But when I come face to face with my sister’s killer, am I prepared for what I will find?

A completely addictive and twist-filled psychological thriller perfect for fans of Alice Feeney, Mary Kubica and John Marrs.

My thoughts:

This story grabbed me from the beginning, and became a very quick read for me. I had a really hard time putting it down, as it was twisty and full of suspense (and a little bit of the supernatural).

Jessica's sister was murdered when Jessica was a toddler, and just before her mother died she said something about the killer that made Jessica obsessed with finding out who the real killer was. She rented a house on the property that they lived in when the murder occurred and started investigating. However, someone or something didn't want her finding the answers. Will she ever know the truth about what happened?

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy.

With Her Baby on Her Back Review

With Her Baby on Her Back

Suzette D. Harrison

Will she ever see freedom for her babies?

Mississippi, 1848. It’s a bright spring morning when enslaved midwife Zinnie is forced to begin an unimaginable journey: two thousand miles on foot. Her newborn baby is strapped to her back, her two little girls holding her hands, as she walks behind the slavers’ wagons.

Every mile brings blistered feet, aching limbs and the constant terror of what might happen to her children. But Zinnie carries an unbreakable determination to protect them. When they cross state lines, could it be her chance to fight for their freedom?

Texas, present day. Elementary school teacher and single mom Lynette is exhausted, balancing work, motherhood and life-changing decisions about her future. Then, while sorting through her grandmother’s attic, she discovers a sapphire brooch hidden among long-forgotten treasures.

The brooch unlocks an extraordinary family story of courage, sacrifice and a woman who refused to give up. As Lynette uncovers the truth about her ancestors, will it have the power to change her life forever?

This utterly heart-wrenching and unforgettable novel is inspired by the true story of Biddy Mason, an African American woman and midwife who fought for her family’s freedom and saved countless lives. Perfect for fans of emotional historical fiction by Amy Harmon, Olivia Hawker and Marie Benedict.

My thoughts:

This story grabbed me by the throat and didn't let go. It made me feel all the feels, including laughing out loud about some of the very current political thoughts, crying for the characters in the story and all of the people they represented, proud of the women in the story and what they've overcome, and so much more.

This story links 1800s slavery with the current day in a way that tantalizes you throughout the whole book, trying to solve the mystery of why these two stories are being told together. And as much as I thought I knew the answer, I was totally surprised by the connections in the story.

I absolutely 200% recommend this book, but be prepared to sit down with it for awhile and not be able to stop reading it!

What readers are saying about I Know You Killed Your Husband:

My, My, My and Wow, just Wow!!… What an excellent and amazing story!… Whew!!… Hallelujah!! This is an awesome book!! Geri’s Things ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I was hooked from the very first page… Be prepared to laugh, cry, and find that your mouth is unexpectedly dropping open!… A MUST-READ!” Goodreads reviewer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I was completely blown away by this beautiful story… I felt so many emotions… I laughed, cried, got angry, forgave, loved and so many more… Thank you for putting this book in front of me. I am so very grateful… Will stay with me forever.” Book Reviews For U ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
