Hutchins Creek Cache Book Review and Giveaway

NEW RELEASE....

Paige MacKenzie heads to the town of Hutchins Creek, Colorado, to research Old West railroad history for The Manhattan Post, with plans to meet up with her favorite cowboy, Jake Norris.

When a mysterious coin from the 1920’s is discovered behind the Hutchins Creek Railroad Museum, Paige starts digging into four generations of Hutchins family history.

As legends of steam engines and coin mintage mingle, will Paige discover the true origin of the coin or will she find herself dangerously close to more than one long-hidden town secret?

My thoughts:

Paige MacKenzie, reporter extraordinaire, is at it again. This time she's writing a completely innocent story about railroad history and combining her work trip with a getaway with Jake, who is still trying to convince her to move to his ranch.

Sounds like it should be a cut a dry romance, right? Wrong! Of course Paige gets herself embroiled in a mystery. After all, when an old gold coin practically falls into your lap what else is there to do?

So Paige sets off on an adventure, trying to figure out where the coin came from and who in the small town of Hutchins Creek is hiding something major. The main difference between this and her prior escapades is that Jake is along for the ride (and to try to keep her safe).

Will she figure out the mystery of the coin before her time in Hutchins Creek is done? And will Jake finally convince her to settle down with him?

AT Dusk Book Review and Giveaway

New Release....
Alex Troutt Thriller, Book #5
AT Dusk

A little boy makes his first kill—and he likes it. He is cunning, charming, and without remorse.

He is a sociopath.

As boy turns to man, what lies inside takes root. He will make a mark on Boston unlike any other, and FBI Special Agent Alex Troutt must figure out how to stop him.

But when she and her close-knit team move in closer, the stakes become much higher as the case takes on a more personal tone. It’s a frantic race to stop a manipulative killer before his web of deceit and destruction escalates into a blood bath of haunting proportions.

My thoughts:

Mr. Mefford has knocked it out of the park once again! The newest Alex Troutt mystery has everything you expect from one of her stories. There's murder, suspense, a psychopath, and a touch of romance.

In this case, Alex is trying to solve a cold case and a current one at the same time. Are they connected? Or is it a coincidence or a copy cat?

While Alex is trying to solve these murders (with a new partner no less), she's again trying to juggle her family life, and is considering her relationship with her boyfriend. Should she continue with the young coworker or pay attention to the other man looking at her?

If you haven't read the Alex Troutt series yet I definitely recommend it. You can read this book without reading the rest of the series, but I'm warning you now that you'll go back and read the rest of them!

Available to buy from.....

"Alex Troutt is quickly becoming one of my favorite fictional characters. I love how she's constantly having to balance her family life and her job, even though her job is continually threatening to take over." - Sonya N

"I simply love every single one of John Mefford's novels. They keep you on the edge of your seat reading late into the night." - Michele B

"Intrigue and attempts at revenge for long held grudges – the twists and turns keeps your adrenalin pumping." - Tracy C

Late for Fate Book Review and Giveaway

D.C. paralegal Jezebel Stone's tardiness often gets her in trouble, but this time it leads to meeting her dream man. Her choice of metro seats places her on track for finding love again. But when their ride ends in a fiery crash, their separation sends her on a mission of reuniting with him and finishing their fateful trip.

But instead, it entangles Jezebel in the twisted lives of those determined to destroy each other. This prickly path also holds the potential of leading Jezebel to an unlikely place of joy. Finding joy seems impossible when life is literally exploding all around her.

My thoughts:

Jezebel is perpetually running late, and she's rushing onto the Metro on a typical day. Suddenly the train crashes and her life is changed forever. While Jezebel thinks she is finding love, she's being tossed into a massive marital fight, legal trouble and scandals.

Late for Fate is well written, and the story is heart breaking and fun all at the same time. I love the way that Ms. Jones changes who is telling the story for each chapter. Seeing the story through other character's eyes makes it so much more interesting.

I love Jezebel! She is so much like friends of mine that she makes me laugh. However, I really disliked most of the rest of the main characters. I know that it was the group of personalities that was necessary for the book, but I really really did not want certain characters to have a happy ending! Ms. Jones' ability to make characters that I disliked that much definitely shows what an amazing author she is.

LATE FOR FATE won Best First Chapter from WRITERS' TYPE

"Jones is a gifted author with a talent for sharp, fast-paced prose that keeps the pages turning. Late for Fate moves at a thrilling pace. It's studded with sharp-edged, witty dialogue and quirky characters that stuck with me long after reading. Jones' knack for creating stories that feel familiar but are unique in voice and plot make every read (including Late for Fate!) a great one.
~Kathleen Shoop, best-selling author of the Letter Series and After the Fog

"Ms. Jones has perfectly captured how one moment in time can change a life for both good and bad. Excellent story with well written characters and a terrific (sometimes terrifying) theme. A great read. Highly recommended." - Amazon Review

"Lori has shown an extremely deft touch. I enjoyed the entire reading experience in second attempt at authoring. I enjoyed the characters, the quick pacing, the brushes with fate, the witty banter and the slick manner in which Lori handles the alternating points of view."
-  James J. Robinson,Jr.

"Scene-stealing Nicole had me laughing out loud. From the opener, I was hooked."
-  Carolyn Menke
