I'm in a funk, I have been for over a week. I feel blah and don't want to do anything. The little one has mostly been on top of me the past week, so it might not just be me, but I feel like I need a change.
I've been slacking on my walking lately, and now it's worse because I don't feel fit anymore, so I don't want to walk. It's a horrible circle! I need to just start walking again, I know I love doing it and once I start I'll want to walk all the time.
I'll be bugging my walking partner in the morning (assuming she's over the stomach flu, otherwise I'll go it alone!) Maybe that'll help me drag myself out of the pit of blah!
Do you ever get blah or feel uninspired? What helps you get out of it? I need ideas!

August Walking Goal and Breakdown
So last month was a total waste for me walking. Too much (lazy) vacation, 2 messed up knees and a broken toe made for a rough month trying to come anywhere near my goal. I know, I know, it's a bunch of excuses, but it'll have to do.
My goal for August is again 8500 steps a day, which is 263,500 steps for the month. I'm already behind (and since my shoes still don't really fit due to the broken toe), I'll probably be more behind very soon.
So here goes:
Aug 1: 4543 steps. Hobbling along.
Aug 2: 3683 steps. Still hobbling.
Aug 3: 2094 steps. I was probably closer to 7000 but we had a wedding to go to, and I had no place to put the pedometer on my fancy dress! I only wound up wearing it for about 4 hours.
Aug 4: 3323 steps. Sore and achy from overindulging and over-dancing at the wedding!
Aug 5: 3521 steps. TOTALLY lazy Sunday! We played games and built Legos (and hung around in my big bed reading books!)
Aug 6: 3967 steps. Catching up on housecleaning but no major walking.
Aug 7: 6049 steps. Shopping and errands add up fast! I'm incredibly behind, but typing this up has renewed my need to walk! I'm heading out in the morning... hopefully my tennies fit, I've been wearing flip flops since the break.
Aug 8: 8943 steps. Managed the walk (although parts of that trail are creepy when it's just the baby, me and whatever guy walks past!
Aug 9: 12482 steps. Great America is killer, especially when you're there for 7 hours!
Aug 10: 6742 steps. Exhausted after yesterday, but a couple shopping trips add up.
Aug 11: 5682 steps. Celebrating my brother's birthday.
Aug 12: 4934 steps. Had neighbors over for dinner, so I spent a long time cooking!
Aug 13: 4221 steps. Running kids around to two summer camps!
Aug 14: 4924 steps. Vegging out.
Aug 15: 8498 steps. Managed a decent walk, but I didn't look at my pedometer before bed (or I would've taken those 2 extra steps!!)
Aug 16: 6974 steps. To and from 2 camps is a lot, plus we had karate and girl scouts!
Aug 17: 8756 steps. Helping at physics camp... Apparently 4 hours teaching is a LOT of steps!
Aug 18: 4990 steps. Celebrating the little one's bday (family style, party to come later) and prepping for back to school.
Aug 19: 12892 steps. Last day of vacation! Off to Great America. I had several thousand more steps while I wasn't wearing the pedometer because of being soaking wet.
Aug 20: 17943 steps. First day of school, first day of getting back to my walks without dragging big kids along!
Aug 21: 5085 steps. Slow day and fussy tot.
Aug 22: 3269 steps. Total laziness!
Aug 23: 4799 steps. Running errands and catching up with school stuff.
Aug 24: 12645 steps. Managed another walk!
Aug 25: 4556 steps. Party at a friend's house, sitting around and visiting.
Aug 26: 5190 steps. Running kids to bday parties and house cleaning.
Aug 27: 12945 steps. Decent walk, Walgreens and Home Depot, then painting my bedroom ceiling.

July Walking Goal and Breakdown
Okay, so my June goal (for the second half of June) was slightly over 7000 steps a day (to make it a nice round number). I averaged almost 7800 steps a day! However, because of lazy days I have other days with LOTS of walking. But I'm definitely getting more fit, and now I get fidgety if I don't walk enough in a day!
My goal for July is 8500 steps a day, which is 263,500 steps for the month. Could be interesting because of some vacations we have planned to HOT areas, but I'm going to do my darndest to make it!
July 1: 5159 steps. I was totally shocked, since I spent 9 hours in the car! Apparently packing and loading the car is a lot of walking. And the fun thing is we get to do it again VERY soon...
July 2: 8032 steps. Hanging out with the in-laws, went to see Brave and walked to the park and back after dinner.
July 3: 6917 steps. Playing with the kids.
July 4: 8303 steps. Apparently walking the Independence Day festival was a lot of steps! Too bad the festival was pretty lame...
July 5: 4684 steps. So it seems like wine tasting tours don't involve much walking, especially with a chauffeur! But boy was it fun...
July 6: 3362 steps. Hanging out with the in-laws means not much movement.
July 7: 6667 steps. Packing and leaving to drive home. I'm still shocked at how much walking is involved with packing suitcases!
July 8: 6536 steps. We didn't get home until 4am, so I definitely didn't get any extra walking in.
July 9: 3370 steps. Totally lazy day! Princesa misses her big brother and sister (and all the spoiling from the grandparents), so she's been literally attached to me all day!
July 10: 6284 steps. We took a walk down to Walgreens (pretty much solely to get a walk in), but it's too hot to do much else!
July 11: 4548 steps. It's crazy hot outside and I don't want to so anything!
July 12: 5928 steps. Cleaning house because we're having game night tomorrow!
July 13: 5234 steps. Still cleaning house, canning pepper jelly and playing games until the wee hours of the morning.
July 14: 4768 steps. We drove own to Pismo Beach to pick up the kids from my in-laws (meeting halfway between the two houses and getting a beach weekend out of it :-)
July 15: 3603 steps. Driving home from Pismo Beach, and I messed up my knee badly. Note: Do not stand outside your car and lean across your seat to get something if it's windy. The door will slam on your leg and jack up your knee!
July 16: 2873 steps. I spent the whole day with my knee propped up and iced.
July 17: 4938 steps. Slowly starting to move around, but my knee is swollen and can barely hold weight.
July 18: 5434 steps. Still messed up.
July 19: 5405 steps. I've been babying my knee so much that now my other one hurts (and my back is sore too).
July 20: 5326 steps. Hanging around the house and driving the kids to summer camp.
July 21: 5648 steps. We had Lego Saturday, so I spent the day on the floor building Legos.
July 22: 3547 steps. So sore it hurts to walk. I'm definitely not going to reach my goal this month, but with my knees so messed up it's not going to happen.
July 23: 7432 steps. Slowly trying to work my way back to walking. We'll see.
July 24: 7133 steps. Achy and sore but I have to keep at it.
July 25: 3939 steps. The kids are fighting like mad, so nothing fun is happening.
July 26: 2623 steps. Sat with ice on both knees. I threw out my other knee favoring the hurt one.
July 27: 6870 steps. Shopping for baby stuff with my best friend. Nice to visit but I'm exhausted and hurting!
July 28: 6234 steps. Started working on the craft closet (post to follow).
July 29: 8081 steps. Finished the craft closet! Now to finish organizing!
July 30: 4396 steps. Organized a metric boatload of craft supplies. I have enough to start a school!
July 31: 6022 steps. Finishing the cleanup from the craft closet and gathering things to paint my bedroom.
Total of 169296 steps for the month, with a goal of 263500. I knew it would be a tough month because of a week of vacation (where it's hot and my MIL feeds us constantly), but messing up my knees (which have been a problem since high school) really threw it off. Hopefully next month will be better.

June Walking Breakdown
Okay, so here's the breakdown of walking, I'll update it daily (hopefully).
6/12: 6,485 steps. I was truly amazed, since I'm sunburned and miserable from the beach on Monday and literally sat for a good portion of the day. I of course did dishes and 5 loads of laundry, a trip to Target and taking the kids to music lessons. But still, even on a lazy day I almost reached 7000 steps! Big walking day tomorrow, so tomorrow's numbers will be way better. But I think I'm going to have to raise my goal if it's going to keep me motivated!
6/13: 16,567 steps! That's almost 8.5 miles! A friend and I took our kids for a walk to a park in Campbell, picnicked and played, then walked back. Turns out the walk was over 2.5 miles each way! I was shocked at how little whining I heard from my kids... normally at about the 3 mile mark they start asking "Are we there yet?" or "How much longer?" We had a blast, and apparently an hour playing in the park makes the walk easier. Pushing the very loaded stroller up those hills wasn't fun though!
6/14: 6787 steps. Makes me wonder if it stopped working, because I seemed to walk around a lot more than I did Tuesday. I don't know if all pedometers do this, but this one only starts counting if you have 10 or more consecutive steps. Makes a lot of my housework not count :-(
6/15: 7450 steps. Okay so it's definitely not working :-( I walked over a mile today in one stretch and it counted less than 200 steps, instead of the 2000 it should've counted. But I was going to make darn sure that I reached that 7000, so I was doing step aerobics at 11:30pm to reach it!
6/16: 4100 steps. 96 degrees outside today. It's too hot to do anything!
6/17: 5779 steps. Still not working right, I bought a cheap one until I decided which one to replace this one with (and send it back of course), and that one worked even worse than the current broken one!
6/18: 9248 steps. Got a new pedometer that seems to work(ish), but the kids and I took a 3 miles walk to Walgreens to pick up some Gatorade since Princesa had a stomach bug and then to 7-11 for Slurpees (as bribery for the kids for the long walk, since they didn't get a park break in the middle).
6/19: 10935 steps. Walked to the park with the kids (and discovered that very few of those streets have sidewalks. Luckily it's a pretty quiet neighborhood so I felt safe most of the way, but next time we may try walking to a different park instead.
6/20: 10855 steps. We went to Great America! I couldn't wear the pedometer for about half of the time we were there, since I was too wet to safely wear it :-) We had a blast but it's a LOT of work to take 3 kids to Great America, especially when they're all different heights (so they need to ride all different rides!) And I'm more than halfway done with my step goal!
6/21: 4237 steps. Lazy day (walking-wise anyways!) We visited family, got haircuts, ran errands, went to Girl Scouts and karate... We left the house at 11 and came home at 8! But yet I still only walked 4200 steps. Probably logged 100 miles on my car though!
6/22: 12670 steps. Went for a 4.4 mile walk on Penitencia Creek Trail. Nice, smooth trail for strollers, except for all the road crossings (and we're talking major roads!) Plus the playground at the turnaround point was SO broken down it was sad!
6/23: 8095 steps. Started out as a lazy day, went to the library with hubby and the kids. Then we decided to hit Ikea at 8pm. Shopping there then unloading all of the boxes added a TON of steps!
6/24: 7181 steps. Spent most of the day building bookcases for the game closet, then unpacking like 25 boxes of board games and Legos! And it's not half done yet... perhaps we have a problem!
6/25: 3175 steps. Visiting family and running errands doesn't add up. Plus I'm feeling mighty blah!
6/26: 3765 steps. Still feeling blah. I need something to pick me up!
6/27: 8179 steps. The kids and I went to Great America again. So I probably had a few thousand more, but I don't have a waterproof pedometer so I take it off to be safe. I may actually make my goal, less than 9500 steps left and 3 days to do it in!!
6/28: 5238 steps. Running errands, getting new tires, fun fun!
6/29: 17338 steps. 6 mile hike with the kids! That's over 8.5 miles total! Woohoo! Total for two weeks is 148,084 steps, beating my goal by 9000 steps with a day to go! I can't wait to see what July will bring...
6/30: 6117 steps. Finished building book shelves and unpacked more boxes! Slow day for walking but I got a lot done!
