My thoughts:

Mr. Mefford has knocked it out of the park once again! The newest Alex Troutt mystery has everything you expect from one of her stories. There's murder, suspense, a psychopath, and a touch of romance.

In this case, Alex is trying to solve a cold case and a current one at the same time. Are they connected? Or is it a coincidence or a copy cat?

While Alex is trying to solve these murders (with a new partner no less), she's again trying to juggle her family life, and is considering her relationship with her boyfriend. Should she continue with the young coworker or pay attention to the other man looking at her?

If you haven't read the Alex Troutt series yet I definitely recommend it. You can read this book without reading the rest of the series, but I'm warning you now that you'll go back and read the rest of them!

Late for Fate Book Review and Giveaway

My thoughts:

Jezebel is perpetually running late, and she's rushing onto the Metro on a typical day. Suddenly the train crashes and her life is changed forever. While Jezebel thinks she is finding love, she's being tossed into a massive marital fight, legal trouble and scandals.

Late for Fate is well written, and the story is heart breaking and fun all at the same time. I love the way that Ms. Jones changes who is telling the story for each chapter. Seeing the story through other character's eyes makes it so much more interesting.

I love Jezebel! She is so much like friends of mine that she makes me laugh. However, I really disliked most of the rest of the main characters. I know that it was the group of personalities that was necessary for the book, but I really really did not want certain characters to have a happy ending! Ms. Jones' ability to make characters that I disliked that much definitely shows what an amazing author she is.

About the Author
Lori M. Jones is an award-winning author of women's & children's fiction. My thoughts:

Trish Ryder is a squeaky clean, hardworking actress who is excited by the prospect of working with rock star Boone Stryker on a script that could launch her career to new heights and win her an Oscar.

However, Boone misses meetings, freezes up on camera and is surrounded by partying groupies. Trish is watching her future slip through her fingers and Boone is hiding his past. In a last-ditch effort to salvage the movie the director sends them away together to the middle of nowhere for 10 days.

I really enjoyed this book, as always for Melissa Foster's books. Then tension and spark between these two was amazing, and the writing was so well developed that I could picture the scenes in my mind without trying. It was also very nice to see more of the Ryder family and watch them interact with their little sister. I can't wait for more!

My thoughts:

This is the first of the Have a Hart series that I've read, but I can tell you that it won't be the last!

Connor Hart is engaged to a woman who everyone in his family dislikes. To top it off, she's spent their relationship manipulating and lying to him. Meanwhile, Connor rescued a wonderful woman and her kitten from a tree, and they can't stop thinking about each other.

As Connor and Nadine get to know each other better he realizes that he's made a huge mistake waiting for Elaine all this time.

This is where a "typical" sweet romance would end. However, Rachelle Ayala is so much more than a typical writer! This couple encounters danger, mysteries and heartache. Can they survive what life is throwing out them and come out with their relationship (and their pets) unscathed?

Spring Fling Kitty is Book #3 of the Have A Hart Romance Series. It can be read standalone, although characters from the previous books appear here in supporting roles.

Gay men don’t fall in love with women. Do they?

Philip is a gay man working for a conservative corporation. After his recent promotion, he needs a date for a company function and asks his sister’s new roommate, Emily.

Emily is an actress, waiting tables while starring in local plays and hoping for her big break. She agrees to be Philip’s date for the party, and soon they are attending one event after another together.

Philip and Emily click on many levels. Lines blur as the people they pretend to be start feeling like the people they are, causing a rift with Philip’s boyfriend Jason.

When Philip no longer works for the company, he doesn’t need Emily to play the role of his girlfriend anymore, but to his surprise, he can’t let her go.

My thoughts:

Philip asks Emily to help him pretend to be straight for his job, which Philip's boyfriend Jason does not appreciate one bit. Emily and Philip are actually perfectly suited for each other, they like the same movies, have great conversations, and are happy together. The only problem is that Philip is gay and in a relationship.

As their friendship furthers this problem becomes massive and tears them apart. But can they get past it?

I love the characters in this book. Philip makes me want to shake some sense into him, but I understand where he's coming from. Even the side characters are fleshed out enough that you feel like you know them.

However, there is one big drawback to me, and that is the ending. I feel like it was way too abrupt and didn't give me the closure that I'm used to with a book. I understand the reasoning behind it in this story, but it wasn't my thing.

My thoughts:

I know I've said this before about Melissa Foster's books, but this is by far my favorite! Parker and Grayson couldn't be more different on the surface, but through their emails about Grayson's work they start to have feelings for each other.

Parker has come back to Wellfleet to bury herself in her grief, and Grayson is shocked to discover her hiding away from the world. As Grayson tries to help Parker through her grief, she learns to love a simple life and the Seaside group that we know and love.

Because Parker is a major star she feels like she always has to put on a public persona, and Grayson helps to show her that she can live her life for herself, and find love. But can their fledgling relationship survive the real world?

This book continues with the wonderful Seaside Gang that we love, including their babies. It's so fun to watch this group continue to grow. However, this book is definitely HOT! Hotter than many of the other Seaside books, so be aware in advance. And enjoy the elevator scene...

This book is part of a series, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone novel. However, I definitely recommend reading them all. Mrs. Foster is amazing!
