The Perils of Liquid Hand Soap...

I've always used liquid hand soap. Even as a child my mom always had liquid soap and not bar soap. Awhile back I discovered Dial Foaming Hand Wash, which seemed to be the best possible choice for our family. The kids love the foam, it's super easy to use, it gets your hands very clean, and best of all it takes FOREVER to go through a bottle of it (even with as much as we wash hands!)

We've used it pretty much since it came out, and yesterday was the first time I discovered a downside to it (and it's a HUGE downside!) No, I'm not talking about antibacterial-resistant viruses or anything like that. I'm talking about what happens when your child dumps 1/2 a bottle of it into the bathroom carpet.

This isn't the first time this had happened in our house (hubby spilled a giant size bottle of pink bubble bath on the carpet once). However, "normal" liquid hand soap is thick, and mostly sits on top of the carpet. FOAMING hand soap, however, is about the thickness of water, so it sinks all the way down to the pad in your carpet, and takes approximately 10 gallons of hot water and an hour of steam cleaning to remove from our carpet!

Needless to say, Little Miss has been told she is never to try to fill the soap herself (although why she needed to fill a mostly full bottle is beyond me!)

Even though this was an awful experience, I will still use foaming hand wash... I'm just going to only fill the bottle about 1/4 of the way at a time!
