Key Ingredient Recipe Reader Giveaway

I was not compensated in any way for this post.

A perfect gift for Mom, grandma or the pint-sized budding chef in the family, the Key Ingredient Recipe Reader lets home chefs access up to 4,000 recipes at the touch of a screen. The Recipe Reader syncs with a free keyingredient.com account, which allows people to search, download and “cookmark” an unlimited number of recipes online.

Just load it with favorite recipes and switch it on. With a color, large-font touch screen feature, built-in-timers, handy substitution and conversion tools, and durable construction that withstands the hazards of a kitchen, the Recipe Reader is a great gift for all the chefs in the family. Retailing at $149, the Recipe Reader is available at www.store.keyingredient.com; www.amazon.com and www.costco.com.

I loved the reader. I had flour all over it that easily wiped off with a wet paper towel. I found a ton of amazing looking dinner ideas from hour prep to a crock-pot prep. I also found a bunch of scrumptious looking desserts. I tried to make one called lemon sponge drops. I changed up the recipe by making the cake part vanilla and flavoring the whip cream strawberry. It was really good!

A lot of their pictures are drool worthy! They offer so much more though. It converts measurements for you and also has substitutions you can use. Such as an egg allergy, they have options on how to change out the recipe to make it work for your needs. It's such an easy product to learn and use I love mine. I have used it often and it has become a staple in my kitchen while cooking something new!

Check out this amazing looking turkey!

I've used several of their recipes already, and I don't even own the unit!
Open to US Residents, 18+. Ends December 15 at midnight EST.
I am not responsible nor is It's Peachy Keen for product shipment. Also not responsible for anything with prize fulfillment or mishaps during shipment.
GOOD LUCK and have fun!

Thanksgiving Deliciousness

It's that time of year again when we're all planning our Thanksgiving dinners, and I figured I'd share our plans with you.

For the past several years I make this turkey:

It is SO wonderful and juicy! Basically pepper the chicken and throw some onion chunks in the cavity and then coat it with bacon. Roast as normal and remove the bacon before serving.

The bacon keeps the turkey moister than you can believe! Your turkey doesn't taste like bacon (although the drippings are wonderfully bacony).

The one downside is it doesn't get brown and gorgeous, although we carve the turkey before dinner anyways so it doesn't matter to us. Presumably you could broil it for a couple minutes to make the skin golden and crispy.

We also don't do mashed potatoes (it's one of the few things that I can't cook well), so we make these awesome Four Cheese Scalloped Potatoes from Food Network, along with stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, roasted quash, and homemade rolls.

Of course for dessert we have pumpkin pie and pecan pie (this one is my all-time favorite!). I'm still looking for one more dessert recipe.

What are your family favorites? Any good recipes to share?

Glide Bikes Giveaway

http://missfrugalmommy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Glide-Bikes-Giveaway-Button.jpg

Welcome to the Glide Bikes giveaway!
Hosted by Miss Frugal Mommy and sponsored by Glide Bikes

About Glide Bikes

"Glide bikes are small balance bikes that are built low to the ground and without pedals, chains, or gears. This eliminates the risk of crashes and injuries caused by chains and gears while giving your children less to think about while learning a new skill.  Eliminating the need to pedal allows your child to focus on how to balance without worrying about the footwork required to power a traditional bicycle. Of course, there are no training wheels either; kids won't need them with our specially designed bikes which are perfect for young children or special needs children.

Glide Bikes are built low to the ground in order to easily allow children to place both feet on the road at any time.  This enables them to feel in control of their speed and balance; letting them focus on gliding instead of falling.  The child propels the bike by walking, and once they have built up some momentum, they lift their feet. This gives them the opportunity to practice steering and balancing without the distractions of using pedals and braking.

Glide Bikes are light and safe, weighing in at just 8-10 pounds and designed with our patented low speed downhill geometry of just 2 mph.  Riders as young as eighteen months can begin their bike riding adventures easily and safely with glide bikes."
You can discover more about the Mini Glider in Miss Frugal Mommy's review!

InnoTab 3S Premium Kid Connect Review and Giveaway

Now that we've had a couple of months to play with our Vtech InnoTab 3S, I've discovered even more about it that I love! We had the opportunity to test the Premium Kid Connect, and it's one of Scooter's favorite ways to use her InnoTab 3S.

VTech Kid Connect is a one of a kind app that lets you communicate with your child through your mobile phone or from another InnoTab 3s. It lets you send text messages and photos safely.

The messaging is secure, and you set up who your child is allowed to communicate with (so you can ensure that your child is only chatting with Grandma, siblings, you, etc. No weirdos to worry about.)

The InnoTab 3s comes with a free year of Basic Kid Connect, but with Premium Kid Connect (available for only $14.99), you can also send voice messages, photos and drawings to each other! It definitely brings out the creativity in all of us and lets us share more about our lives (Scooter is too young to text much but she loves to send pictures or to talk and tell me what's going on).

In this screenshot she sent a sticker, a voice message and a drawing. It looks almost identical on her InnoTab 3S as it does on my phone (as you can see she found the emoticons!)

Again, Kid Connect is only available on the InnoTab 3S. Plus the InnoTab 3S is available this holiday season for only $79.99, a $20 savings! It comes with 20 apps and a rechargeable battery pack! See my original review here.

Want more info? You can find out more on VTech's website, their Kid Connect page, Twitter or Facebook.

Here's a fun video by VTech that shows how Kid Connect works.

Want to try it for yourself? VTech is giving one of my readers a chance to win their own InnoTab 3S! Enter on the Rafflecopter below.

Snowman Cupcakes Recipe

Here's the cute snowman cupcakes I made last winter for a Girl Scouts party. Sorry for the horrible picture but I had a group of girls waiting to eat them as I was decorating them (so you're lucky to see them at all, and the decorating is sketchy at best!)

They're easy to make, just make tiny balls of foil (you can use marbles, some people say to but I don't trust that they won't explode in the oven) and place them next to the cupcake wrapper in the shape you want and fill.

Once it's baked it looks like this and all you have to do is decorate it however you want! You can do the same thing (with one foil ball) at Valentine's Day to make heart shaped cupcakes!

T.G.I.M.!

I know, TGIM isn't something most people would ever say. And I normally dread Mondays because that's my catchup day for laundry, basic cleaning and all that fun stuff. Plus I hate having to get up early in the mornings, so Mondays normally are not my friend!

But today was a wonderfully quiet day for me! This weekend was our first free weekend in months, and it was a 3 day weekend for the kidlets. The hyped-up, candy filled, Halloween monsters that live in my house. Plus Scooter is sick with a bad cold (that she's shared with most of us), so we didn't make it out to do anything fun this weekend. So by Sunday night I was ready to pull the covers over my head and hide. For a long time.

However, thanks to being home this weekend I managed to get almost all the laundry done and the house reasonably straightened up yesterday.

So even though the little one is sick (and spent a good portion of the day laying on me), it was quiet. We read books and snuggled and I didn't have to worry about rushing around cleaning or doing 5000 loads of laundry (I know I'm exaggerating, but only slightly).

Plus my neighbor brought over warm chocolate chip cookies!

And now they're all in bed. So although I could crawl into bed and pull the blankets over my head, I'll play on my computer instead!

What's your favorite/least favorite thing about Mondays?
