This is SO how I feel right now! I look around my house and all I see is baby gear and toys! And since my in-laws are coming to town in 2 days I'd better get to it...

MIA, for a good reason!

Well, I've been MIA for a week or so, for good reason...

Our little one finally decided to join us last Thursday, only 10 days late (and after 5 days of contractions and an induction!) We're both doing fine and we broke out of the hospital on Friday afternoon, then spent the weekend adapting to our new larger family and getting ready for the first day of school, which was yesterday.

Once I can I'll update you guys with more information (and post a ton of winners)... free time for blogging is currently very hard to come by!

41 Weeks 1 Day Update

Well, from the title it's obvious that I'm still cooking a baby!

I've been having contractions since Friday morning (ugh!) By Friday afternoon they were 5 min apart but mild. Went to the hospital and got sent home. By Friday night they were 3 min apart but still mild and they continued all night.

Saturday morning they stopped and then started again by afternoon, getting stronger. Since then they've continued, stopping for several hours, then starting back up erratically, then finally finding a steady rhythm at about 6 or 7 min apart, strong enough to make me stop what I'm doing but never progressing beyond that.

The doctor seems to think that all these contractions are a good thing (obviously he's never been in labor for 5 days before!) and he says it bodes well for an induction tomorrow morning.

I've never before had contractions for more than 12 or so hours, and I have to say "this sucks!" Hopefully we'll get to meet our very very stubborn baby tomorrow!

Waiting for Baby Event... Kicky Pants Review

I love companies created by moms and dads, and Kicky Pants is one of my new favorites! Kicky Pants was created by Erin Cloke when she was on bedrest during her second pregnancy. Since then her husband has joined her in the company.

Kicky Pants carries a wide variety of cotton and bamboo clothing, all of which are designed by Erin! They offer clothing for baby, kids, and even mom!

Kicky Pants even makes toys for your little one.

Kicky Pants sent me this adorable outfit to review:

It's made out of bamboo and is one of the softest baby outfits I currently own!

I especially love the ruffled butt!

Want to find Kicky Pants for yourself? You can find them on their website, Facebook, and even Twitter!

Waiting for Baby Event... WrapADoodle Review

I've spent a lot of time this pregnancy looking at swaddling items, mostly because I can never keep my kids swaddled. They always kick or punch the blankets off of them (I think I'm not a very good swaddle-maker!)

So when I found WrapADoodle, I was ecstatic!

WrapADoodle is the easiest way to swaddle, and they're adorable!

WrapADoodle comes all tied up in a cute package.

Simply open it up and put baby in the giant pocket.

Tie the ends to swaddle baby's arms.

Finish off the knot. Baby is now swaddled but can still kick her legs as needed.

WrapADoodle will custom make them for you using a variety of different fabrics and they also make make matching BurpADoodle Burp Cloths! Or you can choose from WrapADoodle's pre-made sets on etsy!

Want to find WrapADoodle for yourself? Find them on etsy, on their blog or on Facebook!

Waiting for Baby Event... Happy Blankie Review

I recently discovered Happy Blankie, an amazing company who makes adorable, super soft blankies. They're satiny on the back and a plush "minky" fabric on the front.

We received Stomp the frog to review, and the fighting has already started in our house! This blankie is supposed to be for baby, but both Bok Boy and Little Miss have been caught using it recently because it's so snuggly!

We received the small size, which is 18x18". Happy Blankie also offers medium at 36x36" and large at 48x56. We may need to buy a large one so all the kids can fit under it together!

Happy Blankie also offers personalization, in block or script font and in 13 different colors.

My very favorite thing about Happy Blankie is the fact that they have a One to Love, One to Give program! When you buy one blanket, you're actually buying two: one for you and one for a child in a hospital or orphanage! Not only that, the founder of Happy Blankie (who came up with the One to Love, One to Give program) is a child! I love the fact that a child was the one who wanted to share with others!

Want one of your own? Buy one for yourself or someone you love (and one to give!) at http://www.happyblankie.com/

Waiting for Baby Event... ITZBEEN Review and Giveaway

As most parents can tell you, newborn babies make you sleep deprived. You stumble around, sometimes finding time to shower and sometimes forgetting where your shower is! Yet you're supposed to keep track to make sure that baby is being fed and changed often enough and to make sure they're getting enough sleep. Baby's on meds? I'd have to write the time I gave her medicine on my hand otherwise I'd lose the list.
Greg Sheldon, a stay-at-home dad, has come to the rescue of all of us! He created the ITZBEEN timer, a handy, easy to use gadget that keeps track of how long it's been since the last diaper change, feeding, asleep/awake, plus a fourth timer you can use for whatever you want. Plus these timers also have an optional alarm that will beep and light up as a reminder.

The ITZBEEN (pronounced "it's been") also has a small nightlight to help you maneuver without crashing into things and a backlit display to help read it at night. It has a clip on the back to attach it to the diaper bag (or your pants) and a nursing reminder switch so you know which side baby nursed from last. The big thing to note about ITZBEEN is that it is not made to put your baby on a schedule! It's help you remember and to help you figure out why baby's upset (maybe she needs a nap!)

Not only will the ITZBEEN be perfect for those first few weeks (or months) of craziness, but it helps a bunch when you have more than one caregiver! When Bok Boy was a baby, hubby was a student and I worked. Many times I'd run in the door literally as he was running out and I never knew when baby had last been fed or napped. I had to play it by ear every evening! This timer would've saved me a ton of headache, particularly since it's so easy to use. Nothing to write down, just a quick button push and you're done!

ITZBEEN received a 2007 JPMA Innovation Award and a 2007 iParenting Media Award for Best Baby Care Product. It's also easily available at many stores, including Babies R Us, Target, Amazon, and many more!

Want to try one for yourself? ITZBEEN is offering one of my readers an ITZBEEN timer all their own!

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* An ITZBEEN timer (worth $24.99!)

To Enter:

1. You MUST be a follower (and follow publicly)!
2. Tell me which function of the ITZBEEN is your favorite.

40 Weeks, 1 Day Update...

Well, following in her sibling's footsteps, baby is still happily ensconced inside me. According to my doctor, I'm "right on time for me," since I always run late. We are moving in the right direction though, with my cervix finally starting to open a bit. No contractions, and strangely enough I'm not exhausted.

In fact, quite the opposite... I've been nesting like mad for almost 2 weeks now! I've cleaned and organized the underside of bathroom cabinets (which is SO not like me!), and it's just gone downhill from there. I want my house clean but don't want to clean it... I talked my mom into cleaning the oven and hubby into cleaning the showers (both because of the chemical fumes!)
But organizing? That's like chocolate to me right now! I have an overwhelming urge to shred old bills and donate books and dvds to the library. I literally cannot manage to sit at my computer for more than a few minutes (and I can happily sit for hours normally if I have no interruptions). I've been struggling with the Waiting for Baby event because although I prepped many posts beforehand, I figured I'd be worn out and wanting to sit, and instead I can't stand my computer!

What's a girl to do? I know! I'll go bundle cables and cords and label them!

Oh, and I should probably pack my hospital bag one of these days.... hubby keeps reminding me that I DO need to do that!

Off to organize...

Waiting for Baby Event... Bamboobies Review and Giveaway

Finding the right nursing pad is always difficult, especially for me. I prefer soft, thin pads and the majority of the ones on the market are thick and bulky. That's fine for overnight or at home but I don't want to look like I have a lumpy padded bra on when I leave the house!

Bamboobies has come to my rescue! Bamboobies are handmade in Colorado, using organic and sustainable fabrics (bamboo, organic cotton and hemp). Besides that, they're super soft! They're velour on the side that faces your skin, are waterproof, and absorb 4x more milk than cotton. Since bamboo is anti-microbial they may help prevent breast infection.

One of my favorite things about them (besides the softness) is the shape! They're heart shaped, so you can mold them to fit better than a "typical" round pad.

Bamboobies also sells an overnight pad, which also works well for the first weeks before your milk supply is regulated. The overnight pads are large (5 inches in diameter), thick and very soft.

Look at the size difference between Bamboobies Overnights and the Medela Cotton Nursing pads! You have so much more coverage (and the extra absorbency) that you won't have to worry about leaks at night!

Want to buy your own? Bamboobies is offering a 20% off coupon to my readers! Simply enter coupon code SAN20 in their store and enjoy the savings!

You can also win a set of either regular or overnight Bamboobies right here!

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* Your choice of regular or overnight Bamboobies.

Waiting for Baby Event... sootheTIME Review and Giveaway

With a new baby on the way, sleep is something I think about a great deal! Not just my sleep, but baby's sleep (since my sleep is linked to hers!) I was super excited when I found a company called sootheTIME, who specializes in awesome products, the best of which help baby sleep.

sootheTIME sells several cool products, including the Snooze Wrap Plus, Snooze Sack, Snooze Sheets, and Sleepzies. All of these products help baby sleep, and the Snooze Wrap Plus and Snooze Sack actually attach to the Snooze Sheets so that you know baby is securely positioned and safe in her bed.

Here is a series of photos on how to use the Snooze Wrap Plus:

The Snooze Wrap Plus has a comfy head support cushion to help reduce flat head syndrome. It also has a Cradle Support Pad (think a thin bassinet pad under baby) that helps to support baby. This is big for me, since it will help my older two hold baby steadily, with her head better supported.

Lay baby on the Snooze Wrap Plus.

Strap the Comfort Wraps across baby's tummy, which may help with the symptoms of colic.

Tuck baby's legs into the pouch.

Attach pouch bottom up.

Tuck arms in to swaddle (or there's an arms out option for babies who like their arms free). It's a very easy way to have a secure swaddle with lots of extra support. The Snooze Wrap Plus is 100% cotton and fits 7-14 lbs, or 0-3 months.

The Snooze Sack is one of the best sleep sacks I've seen.

The Snooze Sack is 100% cotton.

It also has the Comfort Wraps to help with the symptoms of colic.

The Snooze Sack zips from the bottom up for easy diaper changes.

Baby is ready for a safe night's sleep, with or without a long sleeve shirt!

The Snooze Sack also has Comfort Vents on the sides, which lets air flow through the sack for a more comfortable sleep.

The Snooze Sack is available in 2 sizes, stage 1 fits 7-14lbs, or 0-3 months, and stage 2 fits 12-18 lbs, 3-9 months. The stage 1 Snooze Sack and the Snooze Wrap Plus both attach to the Snooze Sheets for a more stable sleep.

Want to buy your own? Find them at http://soothetime.com.

Or you can win your own Snooze Wrap Plus right here!

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* A Snooze Wrap Plus (worth $19.99!)

Waiting for Baby Event... Bright Baby Tees Review and Giveaway

"Visual stimulation is important... Surround your baby with black and white stripes and contrasting patterns." - Dr. Sears

This fact is born out by all of the black, white and red baby toys and mobiles available for sale, especially those with bold, graphic shapes. And the fact is, I've seen it myself with my kids. Even as small infants they would react to bold colors and shapes better than they would to pastel "baby" colors.

Now you can stimulate your baby's brain while holding her, thanks to Bright Baby Tees.

Bright Baby Tees makes visually stimulating organic cotton clothing. The difference? They're in adult and child's sizes, not for baby to wear! Their t-shirts have simple shapes and patterns that are high-contrast and keep baby's attention.

Bright Baby Tees uses inks that are phthalate & formaldehyde free on their sustainable 100% organic cotton tees. These clothes are good for baby and green!

I received two shirts from Bright Baby Tees to review, The Sky, Earth & Animals for hubby

and A B See for me!

They're both super soft and have washed beautifully. I can't wait to test them out on baby and see if she likes them better than a plain shirt.

Want to try them for yourself? Get your own at www.brightbabytees.com, or you can win one! Bright Baby Tees is offering a t-shirt to one of my readers.

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* A Bright Baby Tees shirt of your choice.

Waiting for Baby Event... Steri-Bottle Review and Giveaway

Keeping baby safe from germs is difficult, especially when it comes to to feeding. Sterilizing bottles and keeping them clean before use is tough for every parent, but Steri-Bottle has come to the rescue! Steri-Bottle sells ready to use, sterile, disposable bottles. They are BPA free and completely recyclable.

Steri-Bottles were designed in the UK and are made in the USA! Each box contains 5 or 10 bottles with fast flow nipples. Medium flow nipples are apparently on the horizon, but currently Steri-Bottles are for 3 months and up.

When you open the tamper-evident box, you'll find a stack of bottles in a plastic bag and a stack of shrink-wrapped nipples with covers. Simply open the bag of bottles and remove a bottle bottom. Reseal the bag. Fill with formula, breastmilk, water, juice (whatever your baby desires) and then remove a nipple from the stack. You have to peel the shrink wrap back and only remove one nipple. The remaining nipples will stay sterile. Then just snap the nipple on the bottle and remove the lid and feed!

When baby is done with the bottle, simply recycle the whole bottle (you can cut the nipple off in order to dump excess fluid and rinse it out). Once you open a stack of nipples you should use them within a week.

These bottles would be perfect for car trips, vacations, grandma's house, the diaper bag, or even just to make things easier at home!

Steri-Bottle runs for $9.99-$12.99 for a 10-pack and $6.99 for a 5-pack and are available from Babies R Us, Amazon, Buy Buy Baby, and several other companies.

The only downside to me is that the bottles are not openable once sealed. You can't add more milk, you have to make a new bottle, even if baby's only going to drink an ounce or two. However, since this restriction makes sure that the bottle maintains its sterility, I'm happy that the bottle is not re-openable.

Want to try them for yourself? Steri-Bottle is offering one of my readers a 10 pack and a 5 pack to try for themselves!

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* A 5 pack of Steri-Bottles
* A 10 pack of Steri-Bottles

To Enter:

1. You MUST be a follower (and follow publicly)!
2. Go to Steri-Bottle and tell me something you learned from their site.

Waiting for Baby Event... Baby Luve Review and Giveaway

We've always had a hard time bathing babies in our house. I never liked the idea of molded plastic tubs and we wound up using a toddler inflatable tub with a baby bath mat/sponge in it so that baby would be cozy and safe.

However, we always had a problem of keeping baby warm in the bath. Too much water and you have to hold their head up while you bathe them and too little and they get chilled and hate the bath (and potentially spray you, if you have a boy!)

Apparently we are not the only family to have these problems, and a mom named Amy Seckinger decided to do something about it. She invented the Bath Luve, a 100% cotton animal that lays across your child in the tub . It covers baby from shoulders to privates and leaves arms and legs free to wiggle. Keep the Bath Luve wet with warm water and baby is cozy and warm and you both have an enjoyable bath time!

Bath Luve sent me the Bath Luve Duck to review. Notice how the feet will wrap over baby's shoulders to stay reasonably securely (unless you have a seriously wiggly one!)

Since my little one is still baking (for a few more days at least), I used a 21" doll to give you an idea of how well this covers baby. As you can see, there is plenty of room to grow!

The Bath Luve comes in 3 adorable styles: the duck, a fish and a frog. Bath Luve also sells matching bath buddies that let you squeeze more warm water onto the Bath Luve easily.

Want one of your own? The Bath Luve retails for around $6.99 and is available at Kohls, Babies R Us, Baby Depot, Walmart, Buy Buy Baby, and bathluve.com.

Or you can win one here, thanks to Bath Luve!

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* A Bath Luve

To Enter:

1. You MUST be a follower (and follow publicly)!

39 Weeks, 2 Days Update

"Nope, no baby yet..." I'm already getting so sick of saying that, and I still have 5 days until my due date (which for me probably means 1 1/2-2 weeks before baby day!) Apparently almost everyone I know thinks that this time I'll go early instead of late? Oh well, so is life when you're 27 months pregnant!

At last week's checkup my blood pressure was high. It was just above normal range, but my BP is normally quite low, so my OB was concerned. He told me to relax and showed me that purposely relaxing myself lowered both my pulse and my BP significantly (in fact, he was having fun with how quickly I could do it). So he put me under orders to relax as much as possible, even trying to convince me to bring in some of my post-baby help now to help with the kids. Of course, since then the kids have been bickering constantly!

At today's appointment the nurse couldn't even find my BP at first! Then when she found it it was way too low. 3rd time she finally got a normal reading. Baby is still high and I'm under doctor's orders not to go into labor this weekend, as he's out of town.

On the kidlet front, we ran into a friend today and did a spontaneous playdate at the park. A couple hours later, both kids were exhausted and Little Miss had to be stripped down for the car ride home thanks to a sand area with a water faucet.

Believe it or not, this is the cleanest article of clothing that she was wearing! I used to always have spare clothes in the car for days like this but stopped when the kids were around 3 or 4. Apparently I need to get back in the habit!

Waiting for Baby Event... Bibi & Mimi Review and Giveaway

While looking for cute baby clothes, I recently found Bibi & Mimi, who sell a wide selection of adorable onesies, socks, shoes, leg warmers and even diaper bags!

One of my favorite things about Bibi & Mimi is their onesies with attitude! I love this Sweet Cheeks onesie!

I love that they're made with 100% combed cotton and are super soft! They also come packaged in these adorable matching boxes, with a ribbon handle.

I received the Insomniac onesie (since baby is already an insomniac, preferring to do her major kicking and moving from 11pm-3am!) I just hope she doesn't maintain this schedule once she's born!
I also love that Bibi & Mimi offer matching items! If you click on a onesie (such as the frog or dinosaur), you'll find multiple other matching items that they sell. In the case of the frog onesie, they have frog shoes, frog leg and arm warmers, and frog socks. Simply adorable!

You can find Bibi & Mimi at their website or on Facebook!

Luckily for you, Bibi & Mimi is offering a onesie to one of my readers!

Waiting for Baby Event...Kids N Caboodle Giveaway

For those of you who have never tried soft-soled leather shoes for your baby, you're in for a real treat (and you'll soon find out that you've been missing out on one of my favorite things!)

I LOVE soft leather shoes for babies and toddlers! They're easy to get on and off (but not too easy for baby), can be worn with or without socks, and let toddlers have some protection on their feet while still learning to walk basically barefoot. When Bok Boy was first learning to walk he had an adorable pair of brand name tennis shoes that he couldn't walk in. The rubber/plastic soles made his depth perception off and he fell a LOT! We bought some soft leather shoes and he had no problem walking in them.

I recently found Kids N Caboodle, who make adorable handcrafted leather baby shoes. Not only that, they're totally customizable! You pick the shoe color and the ankle/text color! You also get to choose your child's name (or nickname), and the font you'd like them in.

Would you love a pair for your baby (or as an awesome gift)? Kids N Caboodle is giving away a pair of SoftSoul or Bouges Leather shoes to one of my lucky readers, and YOU get to personalize them as you'd like!

The Giveaway

The winner will receive:

* A pair of SoftSoul our Bouges leather baby shoes (worth $35.99!)

To Enter:

1. You MUST be a follower (and follow publicly)!
2. Go to Kids N Caboodle and tell me what shoes you'd like to win and why.
