When the bodies of a local family are discovered on a quiet street in the small town of Dumfries, Virginia, Detective Amanda Steele takes charge of the case. My thoughts:
This book grabs you from the very first page and doesn't let you go, so don't start it right before bed! Detective Amanda Steele has been through a lot in the past, and her family life, work life and personal life all come to a head at the same time while trying to solve this case.
Amanda is desperately trying to catch the killer, while taking care of Zoe, and fighting her own emotions because of having a child in her home and in her life again. As the investigation continues, what started as a home invasion and murder blows up into the potential for something huge.
This book is an amazing addition to the series, but can be read as a standalone. However, you'll probably want to go back and read the rest!
