Doing your own car maintenance?

Frankly, DIY car maintenance is a thing of the past for me. Years ago (and several vehicles ago), I could change oil, spark plugs, and even do some transmission adjustments, etc. (This was partly due to lack of funds and partly due to a mechanic who worked for beer but required me to learn while he fixed).

Even now, if you gave me a '81 Camaro or a '70 Blazer I could manage a great deal (even the power steering pump!). But those cars you can CLIMB into the hood to work on them, and have room to spare! My current minivan I can barely get my arm anywhere in it (and hubby's car is completely alien to me!)

Luckily for me, and all the rest of you, there are companies that will do the work for you! And now, thanks to MotorOilMatters.org, you can find out lots of awesome information about how to prolong the life of your car. MotorOilMatters.org was created by Pennzoil, Quaker State, and Shell Rotella (so they know what they're talking about!)

They have a wonderful tips and advice section, and even an interactive quiz!

Luckily for me, Shell Lubricants and MotorOilMatters.org provided me with a $35 Jiffy Lube giftcard so that I could get my oil changed without having to deal with it myself.

Wanna win one of your own? Thanks to Shell Lubricants and MotorOilMatters.org, you can!

i learned that i didn't know much about cars or oil! but i liked that they weren't condescending. and that not each car goes the same amount of miles before needing a change, you have to check the manual.
