i play and Green Sprouts November Review and Giveaway

I had the opportunity to review a couple of amazing products this month.

i play is a company that is focused on protecting children and the earth. Their products are high quality, PVC and BPA free, and many are organic, UPF 50+ and made of petroleum-free materials.

I had the chance to review Green Sprouts Velour Blankie Animal:

This is a wonderful product, with a soft plush head and a plush, unstuffed blankie body. We've had similar products with all of our children, but it was a head on an actual blankie. The kids liked them, but Princesa absolutely LOVES this one. She loves that it's an actual stuffed animal, not a blanket with a head, but it's still snuggly like a blankie.

I love the fact that it's hypoallergenic, made with organic cotton and low-impact, azo-free dyes. And it's so soft and snuggly! I had originally planned to pass this on to a friend with a baby, but my tot adores it, carrying it around everywhere and even sleeping with it (and she never takes toys to bed!) This will definitely be used in our house for a long time.

I also got to try out the i play Fleece Vest:

I love this vest! It's incredibly well made, down to the minute details:

It's double stitched, has a collar liner, has a cloth tab to help pull the zipper, and has this protective cover at the neck to keep the zipper from scratching your little one's neck. It has roomy pockets and is quite warm.

It's also PVC free, hypoallergenic and free of harsh chemicals.

My little one wants to wear this all the time, and I'm having problems getting her to wear her coat now that it's raining! She only wants to wear the vest, never layering it. The only downside for me is that they run a bit small. I ordered a 3, figuring she could wear it this year and next (she's barely in a 2T for shirts), but it fits her very well this year. Keep that in mind when you order your own!

The BEST way to roast a turkey...

I know it seems weird, but the bacon keeps the turkey SUPER moist! You only get a hint of bacon flavor, and only on the outermost meat, but it will be melt-in-your-mouth tender. I also cook it in an electric roasting pan, which helps a bunch and frees up oven space.

The downside is that if you use the drippings you have bacon flavored gravy (although the men in my family love it!) I just make another batch of gravy that doesn't have a bacon base, and everyone's happy. I love bacon, but bacon gravy is a bit much.

Whatever way you cook it, enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Happy Toy Machine Review

If your house is anything like mine, you're completely overrun with stuffed animals. At my house, when the time comes to sort through toys and get rid of them, the stuffed bears, bunnies, and dogs go first. I'll happily keep a stuffed badger, or a white alligator, or a stuffed pika. But bears and bunnies, that we have hundreds of? Those are the first to go!

Which is why I was so happy to discover Happy Toy Machine! Happy Toy Machine is a US company that lets you design everything about your toy! Everything... animal style, color, fabric type, ears, legs, etc. It is so much fun! Plus, did I mention that it's made in the USA?!

When I was offered the opportunity to review one of Happy Toy Machine's toys, I jumped at the chance. And then I played on their website for HOURS! I kept playing with all different shapes, designs, and colors until I had created my favorite. Meet Princess Robotica...

I know, she's a crazy crazy toy (or as Bok Boy calls her, an alien-monster-mermaid-butterfly-bunny-cat-robot). But honestly I was trying to make as different of a toy as I possibly could for our youngest. Hubby thought I was crazy, but then it showed up...

The first thing I noticed about Princess Robotica was how soft her fabric is. I ordered the super-soft plush, and boy is it soft! It is extremely well sewn, and the embroidery is amazing!!  Plus, not only can you choose from their embroidery options, but you can also add your child's name (or whatever name you choose) on your toy.

My other favorite thing about their toys is the fact the entire face is embroidered, so it's safe for little ones (aka no eyes to fall out and get choked on). Plus their stuffing is certified non-toxic and child-safe, since little ones like to chew.

The only negative I have is the fact that we only have one... my other two are EXTREMELY jealous that they didn't get to make their own (and they currently have Happy Toy Machine gift certificates on their Christmas wish list). In fact, Princess Robotica has been living in Little Miss' bed, instead of our youngest's bed. 

Can you see the smile in her eyes? Of course, even though she's stolen her sister's Happy Toy Machine toy, she still wants to design her own. At a price range of $15-$50, she will definitely get a chance this Christmas! Not only that, she can also get stickers of her toy! I swear, this company has thought of everything.
