Mabel's Labels Ultimate Back-to-School Combo Review
Once upon a time, in an elementary school near our house, a first grader went to school. With much excitement he selected his school supplies and proceeded to run off to his class. He lived happily ever after. Until....the fourth....day...of school, when he lost his brand new lunchbox!
Bok Boy was heartbroken, since he had picked out a special lunch box that had a separate insulated wrap for his water bottle. We spent days searching the lost and found, hoping that someone had returned it, but alas, it was gone for good.
Now, I am not a totally clueless mom... His lunchbox had his name on it, but because of the color of his box, his name was not in an easily seen location.
Of course, that was before I discovered Mabel's Labels!
Mabel's Labels carries a wonderful selection of labels, for just about everything you could think of to label. They carry 411 wristbands so if your child is separated from you people have your info. They have allergy stickers that stay on your child's cups or lunch containers.
They also carry many household labels and even stationery products.
Mabel's Labels sent me their Ultimate Back to School Combo pack to review. This pack is no longer available, but they still carry all of the component items, along with other combo packs.
The Tag-Mates are wonderful stickers with your child's name on it that sticks to their clothing tags to identify their clothing. It's a great alternate to iron-on tags for people like me (who have to hunt to find their iron) and SO much better than trying to write with a marker on the tag!
The Tag-Mates are truly amazing! They're easy to stick on and don't come off in the wash. I've washed Bok Boy's favorite sweatshirt multiple times and it's still stuck on strong.
The Skinny Minis are labels that stick to toys, sippy cups, spoons, bottles, whatever you have with a smooth surface that you want labeled. And, since Mabel's Labels is truly awesome, they're dishwasher and microwave safe and UV fade resistant. How much better does it get? Labels that stay on! No more masking tape on the sippy cups at daycare.
The Shoe Labels are these amazing circular labels that stick on the inside of your child's shoe, under his/her heel. There's a special clear sticker that goes on top and protects the label from your sweaty feet. These labels don't come off, and they're perfect for playlands, karate class, or places where your child's shoes might get mistaken for someone else's.
Bok Boy's favorites are the Teeny Tags, which are a little metal tag that hangs from a keyring and attaches to things (such as zipper pulls). He now has these tags on his backpack and his lunchbox, and they're easy to see if he loses his lunchbox again.
While the Ultimate Back-to-School Combo is not currently available, Mabel's has a Big Combo that contains 45 Sticky Labels, 50 Iron-Ons or 75 Tag-Mates™, 24 Shoe Labels, 2 Bag Tags for only $45 and a Camp/School pack that has 15 Sticky Labels, 40 Iron-Ons or 50 Tag Mates™, 8 Shoe Labels, 2 Bag Tags for $34.
Mabel's Labels is one of the best new products that I've found in a long time, and I encourage you to try them (but only if you want to make sure that your child comes home with the correct shoes or lunchbox or coat!) I only wish I had discovered Mabel's Labels before school started!

What do you get when you combine two kids and a whole bag of stickers?
In the process of doing crafts today, the kids rediscovered the Ziploc bag full of stickers I keep in the craft supplies. As a side note, I LOVE Ziploc bags for keeping kids' things organized!
Luckily for the kids (and me!) Bok Boy and Little Miss are pretty well trained about stickers. They're allowed on paper and on themselves. We do, of course, have the occasional problem and have to scrub stickers off tables or walls, but overall the kids are pretty good with them.
This time, Little Miss discovered the alphabet stickers, and since she's trying to learn to read, she was making words with them... On herself.
A whole sleeve worth!
While she didn't manage to spell much of anything, she did have a great time (and all of the stickers stayed on her and not on my walls or furniture!)
Now I just have to convince her that it won't feel good to wear them overnight, since she wants to sleep with them on. That would make for a very painful morning!
What fun things have your little ones done lately?

I would have to photoshop a picture of myself wrestling a bear to the ground with my bare hands. That would be worth plastering all over my walls... actually, everyone should have a 2 ft square sticker of me wrestling a bear on their wall. Thanks!

Whatever happened to the edited for TV movies?
Whatever happened to the edited for TV movies? I grew up watching Breakfast Club, Indiana Jones and other such movies, but all of the racy or violent parts were edited out.
Now, all of the movies like them (including Indiana Jones, Transformers, and basically every movie that boys want to see) are too scary, violent, or sexy for kids. And they don't edit them anymore. So my choice is to let my child watch something I don't believe is appropriate for them, or I can be the meanest mom in the world.
Needless to say, I'm the meanest mom in the world (although Bok Boy always says that the ogre's mom is the meanest, not me). What do you do? My son's friend gets to watch them all and then have nightmares. My son, well, he just gets to play with the toys and learn what he can from his friends.
My simple wish is that one of the 900 cable channels would make edited for TV shows, like we used to watch in the good ole days! It would help save my sanity (and I need every little bit that I can get!)
