The BEST way to roast a turkey...

I know it seems weird, but the bacon keeps the turkey SUPER moist! You only get a hint of bacon flavor, and only on the outermost meat, but it will be melt-in-your-mouth tender. I also cook it in an electric roasting pan, which helps a bunch and frees up oven space.

The downside is that if you use the drippings you have bacon flavored gravy (although the men in my family love it!) I just make another batch of gravy that doesn't have a bacon base, and everyone's happy. I love bacon, but bacon gravy is a bit much.

Whatever way you cook it, enjoy your Thanksgiving!

  1. Ha! Why have I never thought of this before!?! I know my husband would love this. But does the skin get crispy?

  3. It's amazing! The skin doesn't get crispy, except where it peeks through the bacon, but I'm sure you could crisp it up by removing the bacon towards the end. We don't eat the skin so we don't worry about it (although we have been known to throw the bacon in the microwave for a couple minutes to get it really crispy and then eat it :-)

  9. Everything is better with bacon in my book! This sounds delish and I'm willing to try anything especially if it keeps the turkey moist. They tend to dry out easily.
